Description
(repostin something I made a while back while I wait for photoshop in other computer to work so I can finish commishes b4 weekend.)'I drew this in mind when I read an article some weeks back (which I want to find again, but I cannot find it???) I read about one woman who took her youngest daughter to see "Princess and the Frog" . Seeing her little girl make OMG!ENCHANTED!FACE and thinking the new generation gets to have Tiana while her generation did not.
This thought made her bawww in the theater.
I also bawwww while thinking of this.
It's sad but happy at the same time.
It's kind of like when I first saw "Mulan" the first time as a little girl. I was personally moved.
...
Because all the "issues" and some flaws of this film aside, I felt the movie and Tiana were made with sincerity and love, not just something to be marketed, which is important when bringing to life a story you want to move people with.
Princess and the Frog and Tiana (c) Disney
Fanart by me (because I love this movie FFFF)
EDIT: Guys, you are seriously going to make me BAWWW (aside from all the wapanese trolling on the front comments lol) even more with all these lovely stories you're telling me about your Disney memories.

As I watched The Princess and the Frog, I pulled that same face and reaction, and I'm 17! The beautiful 2D animation and music was just so wonderfully nostalgic.

I think you captured the feeling well, of the little girl's excitement and joy as she saw the princess up in the big screen. Ahh I remember the feeling so well. I can't quite get that feeling now I think it's because I'm a little older. So there's nothing that can compare to the feeling when you were still a child and you saw that Disney Princess. >w<

And this is why I want to be a Disney animator. *SPARKLE!* Thank you for drawing such a moving picture. Brings me back memories of 90's Disney films. I also remember watching Mulan in theatres, and I was so stoked that a GIRL in a CARTOON was kicking butt. Yee!!

Oh man, this is kind of embarrassing to admit, but looking at this made me tear up a little. For all the obvious reasons and then this sudden need to do something to make those reasons not HAVE to be so obvious.
I finally went and saw the movie just the other day, and I thought it was very sweet and funny and charming and really, REALLY excellent with its visuals, and your Tiana totally does justice to it. Flaws or whatever, I was totally an awed little girl the whole time the thing was playing, and looking at this I really just want every little girl EVER to have that.
And now I really want to go see it again, too.

You make a good point:
As a guy, and a rather "Radical" type, I'm more tempted to bash Disney's commercialism and often butchering tales that it then covets with its copyright abuse despite drawing most of its stuff from the "Public Domain"...
But, seeing a little girl so gushy and so happy over one of their films, I wouldn't want to say anything about it at least in her presence...

Thank you!
and for the honest and noble opinions!
I pretty much hate Disney as a brand and corporation as well in that it most of the time funds insipid but money-making pop idols lately.
But what I respect in them are their artists and their artistry in conveying different characters in a way that is moving is a different timeless flavor from the love I feel for Japanese anime or French animated movies.
And it is because of these artists that pour their heart into the movies, I can finally look past the obvious corporate dirtiness and find where something pure still can be found.

I felt that way back in the day with Mulan as well. Weird cause I am Caucasian > .> But I have felt awed each time they come out with a none white "princes" for they seem to put more thought into the character and does not seem so shallow. . .
Sorry about the rant.
I love the picture and the meaning behind it.

I had to say that I was just happy that they gave us a new 2D movie. As for the movie in general I thought that it was incredibly adorable and all the characters were really played out very well
as for this picture I love the emotion and beauty as well as the childish innocents that is shone in this picture.

As a kid born during the Disney Renaissance, I've been wanting these films back. No pop culture references! Old fashion animation!
I've been following the development of the Princess and the Frog, for a year before the release, and I was beyond happy when I saw the movie on opening day.
The movie amazed me, surpassing some films in my opinion. The Prince had a charactar! (A charming one at that!)
And I felt like a little kid. I wasn't the only teenarger though. [:
My favorite part was the fact so many little girls had on tiaras or crowns, one of them had the whole outfit.
It was so adorable, because they were like me when I saw Mulan. The parents and children were so happy together it created an even happier atmosphere. [:

What about Belle and Ariel, a brunette and redhead respectively? And the first princess, Snow White, was raven haired. Yes, blondes were over-represented, but most of Disney's princess stories were taken from the Grimm's book of tales (watered down for the kiddies, of course.) And the Grimms wrote down the version of the tales they heard, mainly the germanic-european versions.

Ok, the point of the piece here is that Disney has, after more than 70 years, come up with a black princess, a character black little girls can look up to and relate to in a way they've never really been able to before. Now they also have the chance to be the princess, just like little white girls have been able to for 72 years. It's only been the past 20 years or so Disney has expanded past the Aryan look for their princesses.

I got the point. You'll just have to excuse me. I'm studying for my LSAT, so I feel this annoying compulsion to take advantage of any holes in an argument. I think I've managed to annoy about a hundred commenters so far without even meaning to.

When I was little, Belle was my Disney princess. She was practical, intelligent, and loved books. I bet this little girl may do the same thing to Princess and the Frog I did to Beauty and the Beast, wear out a few tapings of it.
Awesome expressions.
