Description
(repostin something I made a while back while I wait for photoshop in other computer to work so I can finish commishes b4 weekend.)'I drew this in mind when I read an article some weeks back (which I want to find again, but I cannot find it???) I read about one woman who took her youngest daughter to see "Princess and the Frog" . Seeing her little girl make OMG!ENCHANTED!FACE and thinking the new generation gets to have Tiana while her generation did not.
This thought made her bawww in the theater.
I also bawwww while thinking of this.
It's sad but happy at the same time.
It's kind of like when I first saw "Mulan" the first time as a little girl. I was personally moved.
...
Because all the "issues" and some flaws of this film aside, I felt the movie and Tiana were made with sincerity and love, not just something to be marketed, which is important when bringing to life a story you want to move people with.
Princess and the Frog and Tiana (c) Disney
Fanart by me (because I love this movie FFFF)
EDIT: Guys, you are seriously going to make me BAWWW (aside from all the wapanese trolling on the front comments lol) even more with all these lovely stories you're telling me about your Disney memories.

I loved that movie. Not only because it shows racial progress, but because it reminds little girls (from all over the world) that hard work, determination, and faith in yourself will get you to where you want to go.

This is adorable, and I love the expressions. Tiana looks so beautiful! I work at a movie theater, so it makes my day when all the little girls come in with their princess dresses.
I'm sure that the mother who took her daughter to see the Princess and the Frog was at least happy that her daughter could have a princess to look up to, even if her generation didn't. All parents really want for their children is to have the chances they didn't have, and I'm glad that wonderful fanart like yours can commemorate that.

While I may not quite be able to relate to the film in the way you are trying depict here, being that I do not share ethnic background with the lead character, I felt like I emotionally related to this princess more than any other that Disney has been able to come up with. I made those exact same faces while watching the movie. I constantly feel just the way she did, fretting about the future knowing that only hard work can make it what you want, but having the conflict of wondering if its really what you need.
Just thinking about this movie makes me tear up. I loved it so much!

I was so happy when I first heard this movie was coming out. I said, 'Finally, a black princess! And it only took a handful of white princesses, an Indian princess, a Chinese princess, a Native American princess, and a fish princess to get here!'
A much welcome relief to the trashy pop stars that fill the papers today.
Disney has pretty good values for kids to look up to. Even if some of old Walt's drawings were inspired out of guilt for brutally stomping an owl to death in his youth.

I completely agree with you. Personally, I went to see this movie as any old animated-film-lover, and I was not disappointed.
People have to just let movies be movies for once and try not to drag politics and other debates into these kinds of things. Movies were meant to bring people together (like gumbo!) and let them escape all the imperfections of the real world, if only for a moment.

This artistic piece touched me in a sentimental sort of way that I haven't ever been touched before: gives me hope that in this crazy messed up world of ours, that there's someone who still sees in the eyes of the innocent. ^^ I thank you so much for making this, and I wish I could express more, but there's absolutely nothing else to say.

I went and saw Princess and the Frog last week and wish we had it when i was a kid, at the same time im glad this generation will have her. There was some stuff i didnt think kids would understand, but i think Tiana diserves to be a Disney princess

Just adding to the 'this is beautiful' comments because it is.
...I almost want to take my cousin Leah to see this personally, she's in her princess stage. I was happy Disney didn't half-ass it and made not just a passable effort but a DAMN good movie for hopefully a new generation of kids. I was nostalgia-ing all through the film.
Oh- and NALA ftw.

Mulan was my hero growing up! A girl who didn't need her femininity to be a girl, you know? She rose above the others and made me want to do the same. Lately, Disney's been going down hill with television, and just hearing this makes me glad that not all the magic is lost.

I'm 27, but have been watching Disney movies since day one.
I've been waiting for this princess my whole life. So this art is great because it illustrates that.
That little girl, that's me.
Everyone always says "Well you had Jasmine" (my real name is actually Jasmine, it's not just my screen name) but it's just not the same.
It's also sad, like you said. I'm 27, Disney is far older... and it's taken them this long.
I love Jasmine, I love Pochahantias and Mulan and all the great Disney princesses...
But it's sad how long it took to get this.
On another note, I have yet to have seen it. The only reason is I recently had a baby so I don't get to get away to movies as easily.
But I'm hoping to get to enjoy it soon.
Thanks for sharing!

The first movie I ever saw in the cinema was Tarzan. I was four years old and my dad took me. That was the last film of the Disney Renisance. This film is coming back to 2D animation. That's what Princess and the Frog meant to ME.

When I went to see TPATF in theaters, the first two rows were filled with the friends of a little girl who was having her birthday party. I walked by the girl whose birthday it was, and she was a little black girl with this HUGE sparkly silver tiara on, looking totally beyond excited.
IT MADE ME SO HAPPY. Just like this drawing! Gorgeous expressions
