Description (repostin something I made a while back while I wait for photoshop in other computer to work so I can finish commishes b4 weekend.)

'I drew this in mind when I read an article some weeks back (which I want to find again, but I cannot find it???) I read about one woman who took her youngest daughter to see "Princess and the Frog" . Seeing her little girl make OMG!ENCHANTED!FACE and thinking the new generation gets to have Tiana while her generation did not.
This thought made her bawww in the theater.

I also bawwww while thinking of this.

It's sad but happy at the same time.
It's kind of like when I first saw "Mulan" the first time as a little girl. I was personally moved.

...

Because all the "issues" and some flaws of this film aside, I felt the movie and Tiana were made with sincerity and love, not just something to be marketed, which is important when bringing to life a story you want to move people with.

Princess and the Frog and Tiana (c) Disney
Fanart by me (because I love this movie FFFF)

EDIT: Guys, you are seriously going to make me BAWWW (aside from all the wapanese trolling on the front comments lol) even more with all these lovely stories you're telling me about your Disney memories. If only Disney knew how much good stuff like this is what lasts with their audience ;___;

<3 This pretty much sums up why I was so excited for Princess and the Frog. Yes, sweet 2D animation and a return to the classics... but mostly because Disney WAS my childhood. And I was so happy because little girls now have this nice tough princess who solves most of her problems herself. Even though the ending totally ripped off Anastasia.

Tiana looks beautiful, but what truly makes this picture so resonant is the girl's expression in that last panel.

I felt the same way when I first watched 'Beauty and the Beast' (the first of about 1503230983 viewings, that is, to my parent's mixed joy and dismay) when I was little; a heroine who was a bit weird, loved her family, and read books.

Absolutely gorgeous.

This makes me Bawww! So well drawn, the emotions are perfect!

Aurora was my favourite disney character, and then the tomboyish Ariel Singing 'Under the sea' infront of the TV... Wow.

I can't wait to see this film, the fact that Disney is finally making 'its own' 2D animation is so exciting!!

Soooo pretty. The second pannel is amazingly well-done.

When I was five; The Little Mermaid was re-released on VHS. I had never met another redhead in my entire life. The day it hit the stores my dad went the first moment they opened their doors and bought it for me.

This is a emotional and wonderful short story. The girl looks so impressed! You really appeared that shining, that children have, if something deeply important happens to them! The Scene implies, that this could be a moment she always will remember later.
Well done! Really beautiful!

The image and description brought tears to my eyes...I didn't realize yet that, finally, black-skin little girls will have a black-skin princess to admire. It was impossible to imagine such a concept when during the "Snow-White" era.
Very moving.

Exactly. Ex FREAKING actly. My sisters and I loved Pocahontas because, well, she was dark skinned and it was who they dreamed of becoming. Now most of them have children of their own. For all of us, for all of my nieces to have Tiana is just monumental. It makes the whole family BAWWWWW!

Funny how I'm planning on seeing a Disney film for my 18th birthday. lol I don't think I'll ever grow out of 2D animation.

Not sure if I've said this before, but this is gorgeous!

I completely agree with you about the film. Criticisms set aside, they pulled something together that really spoke to an audience. It really resonated with me (not just because I think I look like Tiana ) because even in my family life I recognized the characters (the father, the cajun fireflies). Everyone got exactly the dreams that they earned for themselves. Thanks reminding me of this with the great illustration.

Ahh..this picture makes me want to remember how it felt, when I was 5-6 years old, to see my father ( who unfortunately isn`t among the living anymore, rest in peace ) coming home from work, bringing a disney movie tape. He's given me a lot of those, I can say I had some collection of disney movies. And unlike what I see in the general animation nowdays, those movies could easily touch anybody's heart. Who didn`t at the very least let a tear out when Mufasa died, in Lion King? I swear many times those movies made me cry from sadness and happiness. I guess Disney's got the spirit for that.

Feelings like these make me remember how joyful my childhood was. Thank you for giving me one more chance of witnessing them.

This is absolutly amazing. I can just feel how enchanting the experience must've been for that little girl. Disney is just, MAGICAL. Besides highschol musical and all that comercial crap. But the 2d creations speak to people of all ages. I really love this. I think its the stories like these that disney animators try to create. I hope one day that I can make moments for people as an animator. Thank you for creating this, really.

This is absolutely beautiful. You captured the moment and so much feeling in this. Its deviations like this that make me sit on DA some days for hours just browsing around. There's an amazing, moving piece of art to be found everyday. I've just found today's!

I can agree with the woman whom inspired this picture, how lucky the generation is to have Tiana. I didn't have anyone like her growing up, so I'm so happy for them.

The day I went to go see it, as I was coming out, there was a little group of girls all dressed up in their Tiana costumes saying "Princess Tiana!" over an over. It definetly cracked a smile.

I think its really nice that Disney (at times when they actually make GOOD movies) stretch their boundaries to other worlds etc. although I may not be Asian, African, Hispanic or Oriental, that doesn't mean I still can't appreciate movies like The Princess and the Frog.

It seems society has become so seperated, even though we try to intermingle and say everything is ok, we still live diverse and those diversities often group together in strong concentrations of different areas. The Princess and the Frog did a very good job of combining two sides together without any seperation between them, I adore that movie and hope to see more like it in the future

Now I just have to tell my disney story. When my dad was in high school he played Captain Hook in an amateur production of the Peter Pan musical. When my parents were three they divorced (thirteen years ago now) and I went through a period of horrible personal upheaval. To this day I remember very little of my childhood before the age of ten, and what I do remember is few and far between.

My dad, unable to spend as much time with me as he would have wanted through the divorce proceedings, showed me the Peter Pan animated movie. I had heard his stories about Captain Hook, and from the instant I saw Captain Hook my life changed.

If it weren't for Peter Pan and the support that the idea I could escape to another world it gave to me, I don't think I could have survived those first few horrible years. Of course, this animated Peter Pan led me to watch the Mary Martin version and then the Cathy Rigby version. By the time I was six I desperately wanted to meet Cathy Rigby, and my whole childhood I believed I was Captain Hook.

When I was eleven Cathy Rigby's farewell tour of Peter Pan came to town, and I went with my dad. We didn't have the best seats, but afterward I stayed nearly an hour and got to meet Cathy Rigby. I think meeting her that day gave me a new reason to live and continue on in life.

To this day, the song Distant Melody makes me cry every time I hear it. I'm not quite sure why, but even though I have my memories from my childhood repressed, this always gives me the strength to go on. My whole childhood was shaped by my father's, and then my, love for Peter Pan. While I don't like what Disney has become in the recent years, I know that people like me all around the world owe, at some base level, a large part of their childhood to the magic that Walt Disney created.

Sorry. That was probably a little over the top. I'm sure that you didn't want to read this or anything and it's a bit of a big thing to spill randomly onto the internet, but this picture, I think, expresses the feelings of me and many others.

Thank you.

I adore this movie haha i have seen it 3 times with different kids and they all loved it, my niece says she is princess tiana haha. I got the art book for it, the art is so gorgeous, the movie had some special meaning for me, not the color of her skin but where the movie takes place, in the south. I know the foods they make and talk about and the background scenery was actually painted in the state i am from. I will be seeing this movie a 4th time actually, it comes to japan in march and my husband wants to see it.
