I was recently criticized for not showing enough diversity in my artwork when it comes to the female figure :/ First and foremost let me just say that I think that women are some of the most powerful and amazing creatures in the world, truly! And while I will admit, I do LOVE drawing the "pear shaped" figure the most, I honestly love all shapes and sizes of the female figure. From average, to pear, to boyish, to curvy, to plus sized, to petite, to banana (whatever the hell that is ) I honestly love them all, and i'd hate to think that anyone out there feels any different.

So thus-ly, I promise to start showing more diversity in my works

Great work! Really like how you've shown them all in the undergarments that women of those shapes would most likely wear for comfort and utility.

I love this! It pretty much covers about every shape a woman can be (though, let's face it, there's a lot of shapes women can be)... though I'm wondering what a banana shaped woman would look like now...

This is not true if beautiful means "aesthetically pleasing", like it does when we judge physical appearance of a thing. The word becomes redundant. Everything is not aesthetically pleasing, therefore everything is not beautiful. This logic applies whether it's used on a sculpture, spider or human. Although beauty is in the beholder, there are species wide preferences.

Devils-Night In reply to Muronranta [2015-04-25 01:40:41 +0000 UTC]

Yep, pretty much what this guy said.
There is a relative perfect model of each gender in our brains that we all weigh our preferences against. As humanity spread worldwide, and each society became secluded from each other, this model slowly began to slightly differ as each society of humanity continued to develop and branch their mental idea of a perfect model. Hence why people in Japan has some different ideals than people in South America - we don't all feel the exact same traits are beautiful. But there are general physical traits (usually an expression of health) that we prefer over others, and these we deem beautiful. The same goes for traits we consider ugly (usually a sign of unhealthiness).Β

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical…

Evolutionary speaking (of which sometimes can be a pretty cruel and unethical way to look at humanity; Hitler did this with his master-race ideas) it is actually a bad thing to be blind and consider everything beautiful. Beauty is one of the many mechanisms we, and many other animals, developed to filter out the lesser fit and keep the gene pool strong. A general dislike for incest is another one of those mechanisms, since inbreeding is bad for the gene pool. I am not saying it is bad to have a wide tolerance or preference as per physical traits, but one should be careful for what sort of mechanisms to condemn as unacceptable. I've rarely ever heard anyone express the long term effects for their in-the-moment ideas.

Beauty is relative. Everyone has a different ideal. So, even if I find some of these personally repulsive, there are always people who think differently. The real diversity is in human perspective. Arguing about beauty is like arguing about faith or morality. It is a matter of opinion, not fact.Β
It's admirable for an artist to find all humans beautiful! Nice work!

People are never happy when it comes to equality in pictures. It's always "Where's _____ person?" and "I don't like you calling us ______!", etc, etc. Idiots should appreciate the overall message portrayed.

In any case, amazing picture!

They're girls, not men.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

amiamy111 In reply to sparity-forever [2015-02-11 19:45:54 +0000 UTC]

Also, petite women exists. Ariana Grande,Taylor Swift are some celebrity examples. Many asian women tend to be smaller chested.Β

Just because a women dosent have boobs dosent mean she is a man. Thats very offensive.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sparity-forever In reply to amiamy111 [2015-02-12 06:35:10 +0000 UTC]

Stop trying to find everything offensive. Sure, you're flat chested, i am also flat chested and i'm very happy (Wearing a bra all the time can be so tiring). But what is important about the picture is not their chest, you can't expect him to draw exactly what you want. Just because the girls aren't completely flat chested in the picture doesn't lessen it's diversity.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

amiamy111 In reply to sparity-forever [2015-02-12 06:42:53 +0000 UTC]

It kinda does actually. It would be like drawing a picture with different ethnic backgrounds and leaving out Spanish or African Americans. I'm not trying to find offensive things. I just find what you said about "Their women not men" offensive you're implying that without boobs you might as well be a man. I doubt you're as happy as you say I see nothing positive about being flat.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sparity-forever In reply to amiamy111 [2015-02-12 08:20:27 +0000 UTC]

Then that's too bad, i'm very proud and thankful for what i have. Being flat chested is perfect in my opinion:
1. You don't have to wear a bra ALL the time.
2. Doing sport is so much easier.
3. I think flat chested girls look very classy in dresses.
I also have lots of busty friends, and they sometimes complain about how uncomfortable that is.Β
* If you choose to be unhappy about your chest size, you can do exercises or try to gain more weight.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

amiamy111 In reply to sparity-forever [2015-02-12 11:25:04 +0000 UTC]

Those are really lame reasons.
Dresses look worse.
You'll never be seen as sexy or hot
you get mistaken for a kid
guys are always disappointed and no mater what they tell you will always wish your chest was bigger.
most clothes dont fit in the chest
you look dumb trying to wear something low cut that bares cleavage because oh right, you have none.

You can also get plastic surgery which fixes the gross issue.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sparity-forever In reply to amiamy111 [2015-02-12 16:18:57 +0000 UTC]

To be honest, I tried to cheer you up but yeah you can choose to get through the pain of plastic surgery to get what you want. Also who cares what guys think, the ones who care about your chest size are jerks and not worth your time. Finding clothes are always easy for me, just go to the tailor.
But really, the reasons i'm happy are that I try to find the solution in every problem have, learn to love every flaws I have and there are more goals in life I have to achieve than sit on my ass and think about looks.
Hey, now you've found the answer, stop complaining.
