My god. How do start these sort of drawings?

Itsuo In reply to SiggyOnDA [2005-06-23 03:09:23 +0000 UTC]

Well, normally in the middle
When I first started drawing I used to draw very mechanical pieces, they basically looked like spare parts. So I just filled the whole page, it just seemed like the next natural step. I haven't done one in awhile, but I want to plan it out a little first.

Outstanding drawing (very me of course)

But setting that aside you have the balls to take on a formidable creative project and see it through. That is a very important skill.

This image shows remarkable technical control, inventiveness and yet consistancy of form. The diagonal configuartion in the center gives movement, contrast and tension to what otherwise may have been a caustrophobic and flat image. This has generated the illusion of depth without the use of any shows and other convensional devices.

Outstanding work!

hah man, i used to do stuff like this all the time in middle school. Ah the good ol' days. Of course, your work is much more polished and it actually looks like it would work.

Thanks for the comments

I have some free time, but I have also been sick the last little while so Ive haven't really gone out much lately. Since going DA Ive also just been totally driven to draw, I haven't done so many pictures in years, but I think I feel myself slowind down a little and I want to try and expand things a little more and focus on trying some new techniques.

AWESOME! That would make amazing wallpaper in a house, haha.

I agree with Acrasiomycetes, shading this thing would double this piece's power. Have you ever tried using a mechanical pencil? That's what I use for most of my art... it's actually an incredible shading tool. Shading's almost as fun as the actual drawing is, too.

keep it up, my friend

Acrasiomycetes [2005-02-09 16:07:12 +0000 UTC]

This sort of work is always kind of cool, but when it just flat out takes up the entire page like this, it's just awesome. Especially fascinating is how it all interlocks as if it really were some very complex machine, it's actually pretty astounding. I think it's safe to say if at any point you did something like this, but then added some sort of shading too give it a concrete sense of dimension as well, my brain would implode. Awesome work.

Itsuo In reply to Acrasiomycetes [2005-02-10 04:26:46 +0000 UTC]

I struggled with the idea of shading it at first but decided not to, I didn't want to risk wrecking it. Although I think I might try doing something similiar and shade it, hopefully it will turn out okay.

Acrasiomycetes In reply to Itsuo [2005-02-10 16:52:29 +0000 UTC]

Totally understandable, it is fascinating on it's own, shading's not particularily necessary. Like beefoutfit down there said though, mechanical pencils or any of the softer leads can do a great shading job, with the plus side that if it's not working out, you can erase it without losing the image.
