I've been wanting to paint a portrait of Tasastock's incredible stock image for many months, but for some reason it never made it past the initial sketch. Last week I decided to just go ahead and try it in charcoal, just for funsies. And it gave me the chance to try out this grey-toned paper I'd gotten last summer (and never used). I love the play of light and shadow on the features, though I'm not so thrilled with how the hair turned out. I still intend to paint this in watercolor at some point, so maybe I can do it justice then.
