Description
Been a while, huh?Since I am taking a break from drawing my main kaiju, I decided to tackle the Monster King himself.
This version is based (loosely) on both the unused Tristar Godzilla design & the one from the cameo in Away 2. It definately has a more dinosaurian look, while retaining a classic look.
I decided not to ink this, cause I might do another drawing with a more traditional Godzilla skin texture.
Godzilla is a registered copyrighted character of Toho Studios.

Very nice! I like this "thunder-thighless" version a lot. Scales aren't easy to do, so take your time & do them one body section at a time using your favorite refs as a guide.

Actually, this is rather old, Todd. Hell, I've improve vastly since then.

I realized that too, but forgot I had already commented..... consider that a compliment because my attention was on your art.

I like this one a lot.
Yeah, maybe the tail could be a couple of
"sections" longer, but everything else looks good, Jake. Are you gonna color this one up?

I would have to ink it first. Plus, I didn't care for the scales. Just doesn't fit.

The middle spines just dont seem big enough...need to be taller off of the monster or something but thats just my opinion

Not really, Showa Godzilla never had that big of dorsal spines.

Now that's interesting. A different sort of take, with the low-slung head and the downcurved spines.

I will need some explaining on "low-slung" head.
My last Godzilla drawing had downcurved spines as well. I think they look cool.

Yeah, I figured that what he meant.
Thanks for the compliment and the fave. I'm still going to do another design though.

This looks really nice. I like the slightly elongated neck, but, to my eye, the tail could be a little longer.
I like to see a version with the more traditional skin/scales as well.
Great job!

Yeah, the tail could be a bit longer.
Did you noticed that this Godzilla doesn't have thunder thighs like my older drawings?

That's what I'm doing with my kaiju nowadays. I decided to throw out the Heisei proportions and go with Showa/Millenium style bodies. I mean, yeah, the thunder thighs might be realistic, but that doesn't excuse that Heisei Godzilla had a huge ass.
