Description
- Look for the next update on Saturday instead of Friday as usual. We'll be back to normal schedule next week.
- The Yeld Kickstarter is like s steamroller. I'm amazed. Nick and I are fleshing out all kinds of details about Yeld that we've discussed for years but never actually written down (like where is the Prince actually from?). I'm generating a huge amount of art for the project. I suspect that by the time I'm done I'll have created over 250 new illustrations and about 30 new pages of comics. So much art! You can check out the Kickstarter page here.

Waitaminnit. "Petrification issue"? Did I miss something? I thought nothing happened to the girl. Was there some kind of delayed turning to stone thing that I missed?

Gina is fine, but during the incident Modest revealed that she'd petrified someone in the past.

Not everyone. I noticed it and figured that the school was just being over-cautious.

Waaiiiit just a minute.
Jake was there longer than Marah and he didn't go all monster-y, so I'm thinking it's just children under 13 who transform.
Calling BS on having to do homework while functionally suspended from school...(though I shouldn't be surprised) also on the reason since Gina (?) the girl that got bit didn't actually suffer any lasting effects, magical or otherwise.
HAHA 'vacation" Yes Jake go chill out in a magical land you barely know anything about on the word of an ex-agent of evil that it's safe. Go sight-seeing! What could *possibly* go wrong? What's the worst that could happen??
I mean as long as we're having a parade of bad ideas... Hey you could probably bring back some flora, fauna and soil samples too while you're at it.

Well, my replies...
Maybe it's because Jake has finished development, but those still growing can be changed. Otherwise, there's always the catch-all of "magic."
Trust me, it's a thing, especially in the US. As for the lack of paralysis, petrification, etc, is either the magic is weaker out of Yeld or it only works on those from Yeld.
People go to the Middle East despite all of the things going on, why can't he go somewhere magic?
What's the worst? They could survive. Think on that.
As for samples, from a scientific view point, that is entirely logical...as long as they are kept contained and not released into the wild.
How do you like my answers? Also, 97% sure that's Spider Jerusalem as your icon.

This surprises me. The only way I can justify this happening (in my mind) is if I assume they don't have as much information as I have, because my observation says that Yeld turns humans into magical monsters and anyone coming out of Yeld has their monster-ish-ness and magic-ness nobbled, as evidenced by the fact that the mean girl didn't get turned to stone when the snake-hair bit her.
If all of that is true, then perhaps Modest wouldn't become a monster if she stayed on Earth? Which means that going back to Yeld is the very worst thing they could do.

Modest is already a monster.

True, but I meant that maybe being in our world causes her to become less monstrous, as in how her snake-hair's petrification bite didn't work.
After all, if being in Yeld turns a human into a monster, why shouldn't the opposite be true and being on Earth turn a Yeld-ian monster into a human... or at least something non-monstrous?

That is a popular theory.

I'd guess that it's popular because it fits the known facts (known to the readers, at least). It would appear that most of the story characters aren't aware of those facts, otherwise they wouldn't be proposing going back to Yeld.
I'll sit quietly in the corner and await developments, now.

What about the whole "turn into a monster" thing? Does "Jake the Monster" have a special ring to it or what!
