Description
So there I was, minding my own business, trying to hold to the pledge to keep political discourse to a minimum for a while, when out of the blue I receive a comment from a woman who was, um… unhappy is how I’ll put it. She was unhappy, and being… oh, how shall I put this… difficult. Yes, that is the most polite way to say it; she was being a difficult woman, who was unhappy at me. She was unhappy and felt the need to be difficult because of comments I made two months ago on someone else’s page, where I showed my support for the page owner’s posting of a pro-Christmas picture. A pro-Christmas picture in December, it seems, made this difficult woman unhappy, and she felt the need to let me know about it. While doing so she did what liberals usually do, which is to assume they know Christianity better than Christians do, accuse me of having the negative qualities that she herself was displaying, deny that America was founded on Christian principles, etc. There was nothing new in her outrage that my support of Christmas caused in her, and I considered showing her comment the attention it deserved by not responding, but one particular word she used got me thinking…Theist. Why is it, I wondered, that she was using that term while discussing a Christian holiday, on a posting made by a Christian, and while talking to a Christian? Seems that an awful lot of people who become outraged by things like Christmas, the Ten Commandments, the Pledge of Allegiance, roadside crosses to mark fatal crash sites, and so on, rant about theists. Why do they do that, when they are clearly angered at displays of Christianity? Why not just come out and say they hate the religion that has sparked their outrage and disgust? Why not have the guts to just come out and say it? When I’m talking about 9/11, I don’t blame “theists” for the terrorist attack, after all.
It is also worth noting that when called on it, these people will say that they hate all people of faith (and state it like they deserve a medal for doing so). Really? That is not, in my experience, the case. “Theist” haters will come up with pictures of lions eating Christians and say they are funny, but where are the “funny” pictures of Jews being gassed and thrown into Nazi ovens, or Buddhist monks on fire? They’ll draw every blasphemous depiction of Christ they can imagine, but where are the allegedly humorous cartoons of Anne Frank being murdered, or Muslim women being stoned to death, or Tibetan Buddhist nuns being raped? If they actually do hate all theists, then shouldn’t these things be just as amusing to them as the crucifixion of Jesus?
If anybody actually wants to use this stamp, please do, but also tell me so I can give you a

There is very little context that changes "cut out your eye"
"Obey cruel masters". They were treated like property.
They also used it to justify slavery
And god couldn't tell them what they did wrong... why? And how would you know what's a flaw and what's genuine? Especially with passages that say "god says"

Pretty sure the penalty is that the rapist has to marry his victim
That is Hebrew slaves. Anyone else is enslaved and treated like property
No, African slaves did not agree to it, and if they did, it was not made clear to them
Again, having a conversation. I am not

The question would then be if god changed his mind and why, but that is a can of worms I'm not going to open
The Midinites. Numbers 31:17-18 pretty much has god say "kill them all, but keep the virgin girls for yourself". Even then, Leviticus 25:44-46 more or less says anyone can be a slave

I don’t think it’s the Christians being attacked. It’s the Catholics because for some reason people respect other Christian religions instead of Catholicism.

In my experience, general Christians get more hate, but Catholicism is more taboo because other Christians tend to hate Catholics as well. I guess.

Honestly, while I could never be Christian again, I wouldn't hate someone for being Christian unless they started using their beliefs to control and hurt other people (mostly LGBT+ rights, pro-life vs pro-choice, ect.) And even then, I don't think I could hate them, I'd just hate that they're doing something that hurts others based on their religion.
Unless someone is using their religion to hurt others, you shouldn't hate them for their beliefs. Or at least that's what I think ;w; (Nice stamp!)

Funny how a lot of christians in the responses here see only the hate against them and then conclude the antitheism against other religions does not exist. It's like saying; 'I see only evidence for A and no evidence for B so why whould I think B exists?'. Does this reformulation of that position remind them of anything? I wonder if antitheists in Israel and Iran are focusing more (or only) on the Jewish religion and/or the Islamic religion respectively? I wonder if there is any evidence supporting either position?
I'm sure all the christians that feel so targeted by ALL antitheists have gone through all the hebrew and arabic sources to form a reasonably informed opinion on this so what are the results and where can we find them? I am also very happy that religion does not influence behavior so that behavior tends to align with reality as revealed most objectively by science thereby reducing conflict due to cognitive dissonence.

Christians are individuals like the rest of us. I try to judge them as such.
Christianity, however, is a idealogy I despise greatly and will regard it as such without apology.

But many atheists outside of the atheism+ circle(jerk) make fun of Muslims and Jews (the followers of the religion of Judaism) too. I've even seen a few rip on Hinduism. Buddhism is usually left out because most are non deist and pacifist in nature and don't have such a huge persecution complex in the first world.

This is so true. I hate how so many people claim to be 'anti-religion' when the only religion they beat on is Christianity. I even had a friend who knew I was Catholic make fun of Catholics to my face, and is very anti-God now. It's all very hurtful, yet they claim they don't like religion. It makes no sense.
That's why around Christmas, when someone wishes me Happy Holidays, I just smile and nod so I don't get mean looks.
I am using this stamp on my profile!

I try to make things varied. Its hard to juggle the the religions and make sure they all get their fair turn. Also some Muslims use the term Christian-Atheist that if a Western atheist is mean to Islam they are either a Christian in disguise or bought by the Jewish media. As for myself? Well it depends on the theist. I've gotten into a lot of fights with Christians on here but that mostly is because I haven't seen a lot of the Islamic art on here and most of the Muslim community seemed to hit the road. TBH the main reason Christianity is in my sights ATM is that some Chrstians have started shit with me, calling me a Satanic homo or I got into shit with them for they either pooped on another faith (mostly Catholicism strangely enough) or they were just doing something retarded in the name of their faith. Note I only call things out if they were suing their faith to be assholes or retarded. There have been plenty of pro-religious artwork I browsed threw and passed over for I saw nothing wrong. It was just them expressing their faith, loving their god, and just gernally nice. Nothing wrong with that. I may have even faved a few of those things.
I do agree and have met atheists who will bash Christianity but then suck Islam's cock like they were a hooker who needed the money to feed their 12 starving children. I find them wrong and sell outs. I'll probably go back to criticizing Islam again as some of the radicals in Europe are nasty.

See: The Middle Ages
Heresy (i.e not believing in god) was punishable by burning at the stake, hanging, or beheading.
In fact any act of defiance against God was punishable like this from the fall of Rome until the Renaissance. Which is about a 700 year time period.
Athiesm has been unpunishable for about 400 years, probably less if i went and checked to make sure I got my facts straight.

You never mentioned the modern age in your comment.
And they used religion as the tool to control people; thus, theists attacking athiests. Reasoning for it is irrelevant.
Even today there are a ton of attacks on athiests by theists.

If they didn't really believe in what it was teaching, they wouldn't follow it so closely.

Yeah, that is true....
Would you believe in somebody who looks broke, but claims to be rich? The reason I don't like the pope, or the vatican, they are built along LIES, BLOOD, and TEARS. They have used God's name to justify their murders and crimes for 100s of years.

the pope we have today is probably one of the nicest ones we've ever had, and im an athiest.
if he looked broke but had a mansion on the beach, a private jet, and a maid, then yeah, i'd believe he's rich if he claimed to be. it wasn't so much as using God's name to justify murders as it was slaughtering in God's name. There's little to no doubt they believed in what they were doing, considering they also had churches, and priests were considered noble, as well as being one of very few people in those times who could read.
