Description
One of the many control rooms throughout this formerly abandoned jet engine testing facility in England. Β Unfortunately this site was demolished shortly after our visit a few years ago.Β©James Hackland

By the way it look like they give up controlling the futureΒ

Buttons.... so many buttons... Please tell me you pushed some of those buttons. This is a really cool place though. Sad to hear that it was demolished.

No time for button pushing, too busy taking photos! What would be the point of pushing the buttons?

Whaaaat? You've never felt the sublime joy of randomly pushing buttons? It doesn't matter if they do something or not, just let your imagination do the rest

Very interesting. It looks quite old, maybe from around the time WW2 happened. I like how those documents are scattered all over the place. Nobody even cared. Did you read any of them?
Do you know why they demolished it? Did they want to build something here or just renaturalise the area?

Well, I would imagine when the plant was closed the papers and everything else that was left was in a neat and organized manor but unfortunately scrappers and explorers tend to make a mess of things Β as time goes on. Β I didn't read any of them...there was no time, we only spent a day here and there were dozens of buildings to see and photograph.
Apparently the former site has already been redeveloped, although I don't know for what purpose. Β Possibly a residential development.

Well, you would expect that they at least shred the papers if they don't need them anymore, wouldn't you? Thanks for the answer!

You would be surprised what gets left behind in some of these places. Β Who knows what was on them, they could have just been doodles that the security guard drew when he was bored.

Fair enough, that could be true.^^

Was anything built in its place?Β I can see gutting some of the control rooms and offices, but to take out the whole building that could be reused borders on madness.

The entire site was demolished and has already been replaced with new buildings, although for what purpose I don't know.

There probably wont be another location like this for a very long time, maybe ever!! Β Seeing as you are in the US, you shouldn't really have much trouble finding interesting abandonments, they are literally all over the place down there.
