Description
This was the one time that I was able to go out and do some shooting while I was in Florida a couple of weeks ago. The weather was perfect as soon as I got to my location the storm started and was pretty decent. To the right you can see the hotel I was staying at and this parking lot taking up the rest of the photo was the 5th floor of the Hotel parking garage. Not my first choice of locations but decent considering my choices since I had no car and very little travel time.For prints: [link] or contact me.

Holy Geez, three lightening bolts too! I'm guilty of doing the same though, shooting from the tops of parking garages. But they are usually for sunsets and sunrises, not lightening storms

There wasn't much there in this small town and I didn't have a vehicle but I wanted to get some sort of an interesting image so the best thing I could find close by was this parking garage and I am really pleased with the way it turned out.

I've been doing some lightning "hunting" myself, but haven't really gotten a perfect shot yet.
Do you mind sharing what settings you used?

Well I think the most important things are patience and timing. I believe I used a 30 second exposure for this image, I find the longer your exposure is the better chance you have of catching a strike.

Yep, you're right.
I have a few good shots, but there's a particular shot where the light was overwhelming and everything had a tint of purple. That's even tho it was a 1/2sec f/4.5 iso 200.
I'll keep trying! What a reason to miss the rain!
