Description
High winds and quickly thawing ice on Lake Erie, created some phenomenal ice shoves along the Niagara River in late February. When I heard about the unique conditions, I naturally had to go to photograph the unique conditions, after all this sort of thing doesn't happen all the time.Unfortunately for me, I was only able to take about 4 images before tragedy struck. While I was standing atop this mountain of ice my camera fell over and came crashing down onto the solid ice. Once I realized what happened I went over to see if the camera had survived the impact, unfortunately it did not. The fall had damaged the shutter release port and while the camera was still operable, I was unable to finish the shoot that I had intended. It's unfortunate because I had many more ideas I had wanted to try out before the incident but at least I was able to successfully capture this image.
Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada.
