Description
A digital painting which took about 3 days to complete. I used a 3D grey-scale render as a guide for the main shapes. All done in Photoshop CS5. This image is not available to buy as it's copyrighted by the client.I am currently doing a lot of work for Mek Tek as I am part of the team. The game we are working on is Heavy Gear Assault. This work is great fun and is pushing my skills to the limits.
This image will shortly be available in all wallpaper sizes.

Sweet...great scene; The textures and POV are impressive. Was the Photoshop perspective grid helpful? How many layers were used? Check out some of my work when you can get a break.

Thanks DDON - yes, the grid was essential to keep everything in perspective, otherwise would have been too messy with guesswork.
Layers, well I can't remember but i imagine about 100, but only ever about 10 maximum at any one time.
Checking your work now.

I love it dude! Impressive result, and using a grey 3D render as base works very well for fast and correct perspectives of the main shapes
You did a great job, that's for sure

^^ Do you like Avatar and the Na'Vi?
As I saw the movie... ^^ it was gorgeous.
But I think the robots from Avatar are different. They have a big window in the front. Do you know, what I mean?

Yes, I liked the film Avatar. Very amazing scenery.
I know what you mean - they are controlled by a man that sits inside the robot, which is the same as the robots in the game I am working on.

Yes! That was, what I mean!
And I love the movie, I get every times a goose flesh. [I hope it is the right word]
But the robot in Avatar I guess, is smaller and opener, through the window.

haha, yes, I hope so! Also, if someone really likes an image the hair on the back of their neck will stand on end.

Yes thats right.
If I see a image, which is breathtaking, the little hairs on arms and back stand on. Than I couldn't discribe it with words. ^^ But those situations are rather seldom.

Jenny-the-Elentari In reply to JamesLedgerConcepts [2013-03-10 21:15:24 +0000 UTC]
I think to transport something, which is so epic, that your hairs stand on, is really difficult! With movies it is easier, because the viewer registere easier the hole deep of a scenery, as by a image. Do you understand, what I mean?
π: 0 β©: 1
JamesLedgerConcepts In reply to Jenny-the-Elentari [2013-03-11 06:25:56 +0000 UTC]
Yes, you mean the whole depth of the scenery is easier to display in a film because the pan and movement of the camera, rather than one single snapshot.
