Description This image is not available for use by anyone else.
Created entirely in Photoshop, using a Wacom Intuos 4 large tablet. Mostly painted (default photoshop round brush) with a few building textures thrown in (my own photographs, taken in Bristol, UK and then shrunk down and twisted this way and that) plus a sky from one of my own photographs, which has been manipulated loads. Took about 1 month to do, mainly weekday evenings here and there.
Siberia is the name of the organization that controls the city. This was done for a short film. Animation would be added later i.e. vehicles, lights etc.

Yes but due to the vagaries of life I have lost a little flame that animates someone who has a passion for something ...
There are only a few weeks I went back to the drawing, I think it will come back .... And I'm a amatrice drawing, I'm a waitress ^ ^

More practice ^ ^ yes there is that true!

^ ^ But I did not see that you are a proffessional in the drawing XD!
It is also true that we learn throughout our lives.
Thank you for taking the time to answer me it is very nice, I wish you great success in your work!
Perhaps you soon

I'll put the text in french beacause I'm not sur of the good translation

I know what you mean, sometimes we all get distracted, even from our favourite hobbies.

Thanks, I am working loads now, day and night, so lots and lots of drawing and learning all the time.

The good thing about being a waitress is that it isn't a job that you have to take home with you. So you can draw every hour you arn't working!!!

well, what to say... I'm extremely grateful to you for sharing the result of such hard and long work, and being kind enought to post a respectable resolution.
A lot of people would have posted just a small preview and left the image as a print to buy.

thank you very much! I always love to see some nice cyberpunk concept and ideas. I'll putt Siberia in my cyberpunk roleplaying sessions for sure !

I'm extremely surprised this is an airbrushing. This looks like work in a 3D rendering program, all of your work does. You are a god of painting.

I only have one work of art that's worth putting up for display anywhere and its not even on file. I have it hung above my computer at home. I wish I could have as many amazing pieces as you have.

JamesLedgerConcepts In reply to DerekCarsonDesigns [2013-01-22 18:08:42 +0000 UTC]

Don't wish - do it! I have to practice about 16 hours per day. All this art I create didn't just flow naturally, believe me. I still struggle a lot with drawing people and animals etc because I haven't studied anatomy or practiced enough. If I try to draw them right now, they look terrible. You should see how many images I delete in between the ones that I upload on here. Art is very difficult indeed, just like anything else. I know it's the same old lecture but practice is more important than anything else I think. That's why I have to do so many hours, as i only started doing art about 3 years ago, using youtube and books to learn the fundamentals. I would never have imagined just how hard it is to draw well. I can see why the masters dedicated their lives to art.

Wise words my friend. I know I'm still a young artist but it is quite frustrating. Being 16 and feeling like I've been creating art forever. I started when I was 10... making machinima. It's been 6 years xp

A bit of age probably helps - you will gradually build an image library in your head.

How long do you need for a picture like this? O.O This is incredible!

JamesLedgerConcepts In reply to Jenny-the-Elentari [2013-01-03 17:02:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Jenny - this image took a month to do, not every day though. I would estimate that I could do something similar in about 7 days, going at it for 8 hours per day. If there were no revisions and alterations, then a day or 2 quicker maybe. It all depends on how 'particular' the client is.

Jenny-the-Elentari In reply to JamesLedgerConcepts [2013-01-03 17:58:10 +0000 UTC]

Wow, my respect!
Do you work only for clients or for you too?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JamesLedgerConcepts In reply to Jenny-the-Elentari [2013-01-03 21:29:27 +0000 UTC]

Until fairly recently I had some time to do my own stuff. Now it's all client stuff, which is marvelous. I do manage to squeeze in stuff rarely though, just to keep developing etc. I started learning art 3 years ago, from youtube and books. A year later I got my first job (the Siberia image) and over the following 2 years it slowly built up, now being a full time job, working from home. I was practicing 16 hours a day, 7 days per week. Now I am working 16 hours per day, 7 days per week. Mission accomplished, but not without some very doubtful moments indeed over the last year.

Jenny-the-Elentari In reply to JamesLedgerConcepts [2013-01-03 23:11:31 +0000 UTC]

That sounds like a dream for every artist, to make the hobby to a full time job. Are you happy with it? Isn't it too hard to work 16h per day 7days per week?
What a kind of clients you have? I mean they are from magazines or games or somthing like that? How buy those digitalPaints?
And after ONE year you got your first job? O.o I thought it would take more time to become detected.
(Sry for my bad English)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JamesLedgerConcepts In reply to Jenny-the-Elentari [2013-01-06 15:14:38 +0000 UTC]

It is a dream job. Much better than a regular job, for sure. I am almost my own boss.
Clients vary - large game companies, indie game projects, authors, some work is for one-off projects, so are ongoing and regular.
The art belongs to the client in almost all cases, so I can't sell the images or use them for anything other than my portfolios.
I was lucky with the first job - it was unexpected.
Almost all my work comes from clients searching on here. I think clients look on here because it has such a huge number of artists from all genres. No other site brings me anywhere near as much work, including my own website. I also think clients can see how other people respond to artists work by reading the comments.

I like it. The low sun gives the shadows of the buildings a really harsh feeling. It reminds me very much of Mega City 1 from the recent Dredd movie

Thanks Wild - I agree with you, it is similar to the feel of MC1.

WildSpaceSaga In reply to JamesLedgerConcepts [2012-12-19 22:31:00 +0000 UTC]

It's something I liked about the recent Dredd film in that they decided to retro the tech a bit and even made MC1 mix of old world structures and new futuristic buildings towering above. It's a design style I truly enjoy and it's how I try to work much of my futuristic designs. Massive high tech, crowded cities mixed the most basic of facilities for the poorer inhabitants. This picture kind of gives that feel with the nassive corporate sturctures in the centre and what looks like a shanty town just in view on the bottem left corner.
