Description This image is not available for use by anyone else.
Created entirely in Photoshop, using a Wacom Intuos 4 large tablet. Mostly painted (default photoshop round brush) with a few building textures thrown in (my own photographs, taken in Bristol, UK and then shrunk down and twisted this way and that) plus a sky from one of my own photographs, which has been manipulated loads. Took about 1 month to do, mainly weekday evenings here and there.
Siberia is the name of the organization that controls the city. This was done for a short film. Animation would be added later i.e. vehicles, lights etc.

JamesLedgerConcepts In reply to Crugered [2011-11-22 00:28:03 +0000 UTC]

Hi Billy - a tablet is definitely the way forward! I started doing art about 18 months ago and I have learned loads from the tutorials listed on my profile page on here - Dylan Cole etc. Another master to watch for free online is Feng Zhu. His tutorials are at [link]
This stuff is very daunting at first. However, I am beginning to get something from them at last. I began by buying loads of books from Amazon, on all types of digital art. Also, I took images from google and practiced painting directly onto them in photoshop, sampling the colors directly off the pictures and attempting to paint structures (dodgy shapes) in the vicinity of the sampled colors. This works much easier with city pictures. Then I practiced adding the shadows and highlights, taking cues from the photograph. I would recommend using a default hard round brush to start with, as custom brushes can be a pain to understand, especially if someone else has created it for a special purpose. The tutorial DVD's tend to be best, as they are very slow, long and heavily explained, rather than poser tutorials that actually leave you more confused than ever. Let me know how it goes!

wow thanks for the great reply
i am actually getting my tablet in christmas so not to far away, yay!
but i will definitely look further into tutorials and try and get myself quickly started, i am just so excited to get it!
cant wait.
all of what you have done does sound great and it all intrigues me so much.
but we all start some where and i would like to broaden my skills into achieving amazing pieces of art like the ones you create. (not the boobs page viewing ones (i wish))
but i will get back to you when it all goes down, once again thanks for telling me all of this and it has come to a great help for me, i appreciate it.

Sincerely
Billy

Crugered In reply to JamesLedgerConcepts [2012-01-06 10:25:36 +0000 UTC]

haha oh i love using it! its amazing, only problem is; is that its really hard to get use too.. people manage to blend colours together and get so many amazing pictures, and i struggle to do that. i have been looking up a few tutorials here and there but i would like something to just give me that huge kickstart.
its good talking to you about this

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JamesLedgerConcepts In reply to Crugered [2012-01-07 00:58:08 +0000 UTC]

I really recommend the Dylan Cole tutorials numbers 1 and 2 on my homepage. They will talk you through so much, without being too advanced. You will see the techniques in action. You can download them direct from the site after purchasing. This is what I used to start about 18 months ago, and I had no art experience up until then. Also try photoshop digital painting tutorials on youtube, though they aren't as useful.
The tablet will take a few weeks to get used to but it will be worth it.

Wow. Brilliant stuff as always. You seem to specialize in environment/settings. Is the fascination you bring to others the same kind that inspired you to begin?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JamesLedgerConcepts In reply to realitybunny [2011-11-20 17:01:07 +0000 UTC]

Thank you bunny! I definately prefer environment setting over anything else - characters and 'soft' objects I find less natural (paintwize) to me at the moment. All my inspiration comes from the art I see on here and from all the movies I love and grew up with such as star wars, alien, bladerunner and so on. It's the settings (and music scores) I remember most, not the characters or the vehicles, or even the plot!
