Wow, the very inhuman build but at the same time the features are very humanoid! I actually prefer this sort of design to the wolf-headed guys.

It just doesn't seem that creative, I know people will argue with me, but I don't feel it's scary, it just looks like a dog with mange.

When you blend the features it has a haunting look to it. At least in my opinion.

All of the monsters in that movie were awesome, and the make-up effects on Dracula were amazing. It was visually very stunning and rich, and I was very impressed.

I'm a little sad he's getting old, he's a great actor and very intense about all of his roles.

He's been old forever, but he's also a great horror actor, and very versatile in his roles.

Love it! But the rough work almost always shows more life than the finish. Hope it comes out well!

thanks Jon! it's great I learned a lot from John! he really nailed down the fundamental lectures and it works awesome for me. i cant wait to make more stuff. we are in week 5 right now, and he said he wants to see a better version of this next week, im not sure what to add for the base and his form, i might give him some ripped clothes.

Can you sculpt as many things as you want in his class or is it like one really refined project?

After you push yourself as far as possible. You will have to do it again(and again)

JamesMarsano In reply to artanis-one [2011-10-20 08:46:04 +0000 UTC]

no we're only working on one i know why its only one though, he wants one awesome looking sculpture.. and he gives us a TON of lectures... and all of them are important.. i have been spending 16.5 hours in mine x.x i think i went a bit overboard. but i got a good feedback from him, altough he expects to see a waaay better progress next week though.
we are going to be learning how to sculpt fingers next week, this week was learning to find the apex and all.. using the bridgman book, funny thing though we really did "crack the bridgman book"
i have a feeling that i can make my smaller scale sculpture 2x better than before

artanis-one In reply to JamesMarsano [2011-10-20 13:31:55 +0000 UTC]

Might be good to ask him if you could record his lectures so you can review them. When you're enjoying what you're doing the hours just disappear. You'll be 40 hours deep but it will look amazing.

JamesMarsano In reply to artanis-one [2011-10-20 15:10:47 +0000 UTC]

he actually gave us a lot of hand outs and i took notes too for the basic points to create a figurative sculpture.
yeah. time flies.. i haven't really eaten in the right pattern lol

NICE. WHich underworld Lycan you modeling this after? considering the great work you do with these scale models.. have you considered doing any stop motion work with one of them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JamesMarsano In reply to EvilKingGumby [2011-10-18 14:52:28 +0000 UTC]

lol i have no clue.. i just say its a lycan because its not exactly like a werewolf looking creature.. i see it as a lycan because on the ortho sketch it looked like one of those underworld lycan
thanks!!
yeah i thought about it. its just that im too lazy doing the photo shoot.. i can get some good angles though..
