EDIT: I found a pretty embarrassing error near the end of the 2nd scene. I managed to fix it though thankfully. |DWhelp, here's part of that BIG Project I've talked about a bit lately.
. . . . now I know how and feel making stuff like this.
But in the end I think it was worth it, and my motivation didn't crash nearly as bad as other comic projects I've done in the past.
Anyhow, it's a pretty basic plot about how Wario manipulates Mario into helping him seek out a treasure that is only fitted for one whose heart is pure. Nothing too serious but, at least we get to see Mario with a sweet tan.
A 2nd part is planned, and I hope to start on that one soon, but for now it's time I took a break and focused on some other things. In the meantime, enjoy! ^_^

XD This comic is so funny! i love the expressions you use on Mario! Wario sounds just like Mr.Krabs and Mario is spongebob! XD (I Know that sounds "little kid-ish" but thats what it reminds me of XD) anyways, awesome comic! i read the second one too! cant wait for the third one

Yeah, 'cause the way you wrote this is just genius. You have Wario down pat. I can hear him utter every bit of dialogue. And Mario's willingness to walk into something potentially dangerous...well, I guess he does that on a daily, if not hourly, basis. I am definitely looking forward to the next installment as well as your dub of the whole thing.
Now I'm only thinking about how doing Wario's voice the whole time might wear on your vocal cords.

originally Mario was gonna be sleeping by a tree in his usual attire, but the idea came about to have him tanning on one of those SMB3 blocks so, I ran with that and the result was this. '3'

sadly I was only an infant when the original comics were released, so I only got to enjoy them in recent years.

I grew up with the original Nintendo Power. I look at it now and I see Sonic The Hedgehog in it and I think... god damn, what a world we live in today lol.

You really captured the feel of the characters. Mario being mute, Wario duping Mario to open the gate, Wario trying to get rich quick. It really feels natural. Kudos to you my man.

This is great! I thought this would go well! But I gotta say... The expressions are really good! Wario just has a way with making me laugh. I just cannot take him seriously when he gets the idea to get Mario to do this. There are other great faces, but that got me the most! XD

Oh Wario. You know that Mario is stupid. I mean, Bowser keeps on kidnapping Peach. Twice, fine, I can understand. But she been kidnapped how many times now?

Dude, Galaxies 1 & 2 are both separate stories. Galaxy 2 is just a re-worked version of the original Galaxy's plot.
and even if it happened at the same time, you have to think, Bowser's pretty strong so he could escape pretty easy if he had the chance.
And even then, doesn't he have some sort of diplomatic immunity? I mean he's the King of the Koopas. |D

Brav! May I compliment capturing the spirits of these characters. Making them say and do things they are likely to do. Unlike some fan comics I've seen making characters behave in ways that are nothing like how they are, or putting them in situations that would never happen.
Mandy and Grim get married? WHAT!?

It's been awhile since I've seen a comic that Mario is the silent protagonist he's supposed to be. Now that I think of it, I dunno if I have!

Great story thus far! I love the set-up and how you portrayed Mario and Wario(their characters are exactly like in the games!). Really looking forward seeing how this turns out.

Okay I had to take a pause on my own work to give my thoughts about this, cause really, it looks too good~ If my comic ends up being late, people can blame you ( lol jk ;D )
ANYWAYS!
I like the plot for this, its simple, its fun, its Wario XD His greedy nature and attitude towards Mario is spot on, and just lolful. The way things are worded, along with his expressions fits just so FREAKIN' perfectly, that I couldnt help but smile and imagine him actually saying these things
The humor here ( for me atleast ) is mainly with Mario's "speech". I'm not really into the idea of having Mario as a mute myself, but I feel you did a good job making it work. The expressions given to Mario are cute and have that certain charm that we love from our favorite red plumber C: I mean, when Mario wondering what Wario's proposition was, and his speech bubble showed tennis, kart and smash, I had mahself a chuckle XD Wario's 80/20 comment was just facepalm laughable, and the fact that he tries to even it out makes it funnier, since he know its killing him inside 
Now for the art in general~ Yeah I mentioned that the expressions are good. Everything seems to have such a nice flow to it, that it makes it look like its animated in way. Like going from panel to panel it just shows up very nicely and I could just see them making these gestures (sp? ) 
My favorite panels? Well I've got a few XD
6 & 7- lolz his " I got it" and plotting face are pure win XD
14- Gah, Mario looking over at Wario...those nautral expressions, I just love them lol...I dont know why. And for some reason I like how his hand looks there 
19- Obviously the preview pic is one. Mario's eyes along with Wario's pose, just works so well >v< 80/20? seems legit! lol
23- Nautral Mario turn, yeah points~ I cant help but find the tan funny
27- You do that quick arm movement really good~ very good flow to it, and I cant keep my eyes of it for those panels x3
32, 36 and 41- lol I dont think I need to say
Before I forgot, I notice on panel 31 the SMA style~ think I wouldnt catch that?

Damn this is alot...but I feel you earned a meaty chunk of text for your hard work. Before I close off, I like the BG's for some of these panels came out pretty good! I dont know how you or anybody else can do a comic with no color, but you know whut? I dont mind it~ I just cant do it myself ( it'll piss me off lol )
Great job, James! Looking forward to the next one, and if you have in mind for another Mario & Wario series, I'll be looking forward to that as well
