So I only just discovered today that my old bud Danny8bit has finally, officially cancelled the New Super Mario Adventures that he, along with EarthGwee , pudgybat and I worked on a forever ago. You can see his full statement on the cancellation here - www.mariocomics.com/news-archiβ¦With that being said I figured it wouldn't hurt to showcase some Pages that I did my part of the bargain on, but were never fully finished because this was around the time everyone got too busy with their own matters. If work on the comic still continued then these would've been the next pages to appear on the site (tho if Danny ever felt like it he could post these sketches on the site too -wink wink-) ~
As for what else was planned for the comic, I won't spoil too much of it just to respect Danny's wishes. However I can say that the comic was going to make an effort to bring in as much attention to Nintendo's concepts and ideas as possible. We were even planning to go as far as to reach out to some of Nintendo's other franchises and bring them into the Comic, most notably Ice Climber and (especially pressured by me lol) Kid Icarus.
(Infact these designs I made for the KI Cast awhile ago was planned to be used for NSMA - Pit x 2 + Palutena )
So yeah, that's about as much as I can say about the Project. I had my fun with it while it lasted and, while it's hard for me to look back on some of it it did help give me some experience in making Comics, and it was nice to have help from 2 good friends in the process. Also it's thanks to this series (as well as assistance from good ol herms85 ) that I got my first (and only) daily deviation. xD
May the legacy of this comic, while short-lived, be remembered by any that got a chance to read it.

Hey... I get it. Life Happens. But if it ever does get revisited, or someone at least writes a good fan-fic story in a way to explain the rest of this... it's all good. I was great while it lasted.

//sigh// I can't say I'm not surprised. Anyone who ends up starting a fan comic like this either ends up losing their drive to work on it because of life or just plain get sick of it and want to move on to other works. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.Β

Sorry again that the comic ended up getting the axe. I really enjoyed the work you four put into it.
Now as far as bringing in other Nintendo IPs, how were you guys gonna do that? Would it be like how Archie initially did Mega Man X, where it'd be seperate short stories to accompany the main story? Or would they actually cross over with Mario?

As far as bringing in other Nintendo IPs, they would've meshed into the overall world we were trying to create with NSMA. Infact we sorta considered taking the whole "8 World Tropes" into account and tried to fit what we could into that threshold. For example Mario Mainstays like Yoshi & Donkey Kong's locales would've been the basis for the standard Island and Jungle/Forest trope respectively, whereas for tropes like Snow & Sky, that's when to figured we could fit Ice Climber and Kid Icarus into the whole equation.
There are times though when Danny suggested other Nintendo IPs like Urban Champion and Star Fox, but I ultimately put my foot down on those ideas just cuz those are a few examples I felt wouldn't mesh that well.

Interesting. Although Star Fox could have appeared during Super Mario Galaxy based arcs perhaps.

I just feel Mario & Star Fox kinda clash in terms of their overall atmosphere. I mean in the case of Mario it's always been a bit more magical with a sense of wonder; whereas with Star Fox it was always a bit more grounded in Science-Fiction, complete with Advanced Technological Marvels, Planetary Connections and Full-Scale Space Wars
Basically it's like trying to mix The Never Ending Story with Star Wars, it just doesn't quite work. xD;

Sad to see it go, but it was quite an ambitious project between three people, so I'm afraid it's not very surprising that it didn't took off very far. I enjoyed what there was though.
