Just bought and was playing around with Colm's IDL Studio light set [link] and realized I never loaded a Poser version of Lucy here for my fellow Poser buddies. What an Asphalt I am eh? LOL Really sorry about that guys

This is actually very close to the original color she is, but I'm using one of IDL Studio's texture for the sphere, "Pending Storm" (got indirect light activated). Loaded both main and specular lights, turned toward the front and reduced to 70% intensity (they're a bit bright, even the promos show it if you look closely), added a spot/rim light. Added an IBL light but after various spot renders/tests, I saw that I didn't need it (gonna study that more).

Surprisingly, with Indirect Light activated, though it does two pass renders (3 pass with SSS applied to characters), it doesn't take nearly as much time as expected, nor does it lag my machine bad like DS's UberEnvironment's "Indirect light" setting, even with Poser render setting on high quality.

Render settings set to the best quality suggested by the IDL Studio pdf, which is a great quality.

The top of image is Lucy Zepp's default (all Poser) setting, the bottom is her SSS (Poser 9 & 2012) setting. Note she doesn't look so waxy, it's because I didn't like... no... rather... hated... the "Poser wax" look and the blue effect so after learning how to demolish that, I set the "scatter" scale to 2.000 which is a higher quality. I learned that it not only rids the blue effect, but it also reduces that so waxy look and makes the character more realistic looking.

This took me all day after learning a bit more about Poser lights and playing with Colm's IDL Studio (which I really like!!), as well as a couple renders and the final renders after finding something wrong.

Update on process... honestly don't know, but P3Design needs a break, she's got so much work to do and I don't want to rush her on this. As far as I know, two adult promos finished, a few more needed that she will start on (we're doing them together since I'm doing the "DS renders" side of them), then the readme will be done by her (but I'll be adding some technical advices).

I have a nude version of this, but wanted to show people who can't view nudes (I have a couple young friends who wanted to see her too), also wanted first to see how much attention this one gets. Honestly I'm getting a bit sick of nude images LOL. But, if I get enough requests, I'll load that as well.

Thanks a lot, rod! I used Poser9, am starting to learn that program more now that I'm learning the way the lights work, still got a ways to go for surfaces though (the Poser mats for our character is P3Design's work, I did the DS mats).

Poser 9 has been on special, but didn't have the funds, so missed the sale, hope it comes round again, I could do with mastering an anachronistic interface

That's too bad, P9 & the SSS is way better then Poser without SSS. I got very lucky and won my copy, or I'd have not been able to afford it. And thanks so much, friend!

The character look really good

Be carefull when comparing with Luxrender: Lux is computing without shortcuts, that explain why it is most of the time longer to compute than it is with Poser, because Poser is making approximations, in order to speed up the process, leading sometimes to results that may be less good.
That's also why it exists pose2lux...
And in fact, if you use Poser's SSS functionalities + IDL, you have 3 passes.

Thanks so much, friend!

Luxrender is all out remarkable, the best in the west especially without spending thousands on programs. Actually I didn't say anything about Luxrender, you use UberEnvironment in DS/3delight (default render engine), and assigning indirect light is quite hard on the machine.

And you're right, 3 passes for SSS + IDL, forgot to mention

Thanks so much, buddy! Am starting to consider doing some renders in P9 now, it's actually more funner to learn now that I know the ins/outs. Still a bit hard on the machine though, but thankfully you can do partial renders

I wouldn't mind a nude render, but I really want to see this product set available... hopefully Petra can get some good hours in and get the renders and readme finished, I am anxious to play!!

LOL, thanks man, truly I know how you feel. A lot of this really was my fault though, I think I should've kept quiet and learned all that I did and do all the changing/corrections before I became a loud mouth lol. Also I made this set a bit confusing/new for Petra, she's never done a set like this, especially children. So, I'm kicking myself and being patience lol

No worries, I will still be one of the first purchasing Lucy when she becomes available... Poser/DS has a wide learning curve that can be frustrating to say the least. Just keep at it and know I am ready whenever Lucy is!

lol, more than likely you have a race on your hands, but I will certainly let you know as soon as I myself know she's live (you don't know till you get the email and by that time it's probably been a couple hours).

Well, really, you need to learn the program and spend a couple years on them before you can actually make high quality characters. Poser is not free, it costs a few hundred bucks [link] Daz Studio, at the time, is free though [link]
