Description
17th one of the emoticon series. This time:
Size of the base: 4.5cm (1.77") in diameter.
Hands are movable, but not posable. Therefore I had to fix the hand holding the fish with a needle... without the needle, he's dragging the fish behind him like a security blanket.
EDIT: Decided to enter it into #Plushie-Database 's Pastel Colours Contest , too. Let's see where that get's me.
All emoticons I've done so far can be found here: [link]

yep, we could have a too already, if I wasn't so busy with other stuff... it's just a slight modification of the
pattern.
and there are more to come, as soon as I get the big projects done.

thank you.
I like the fish, too. though I forgot to write down the pattern for the tail fin.
will have to see if I can figure it out again by just looking at it.

haha. true. it's been a while. but I've submitted one in march already.
will keep making more, promise. I have another one started already, though that one might take a while to show up here. I keep starting others instead of finishing it.

Ahaha, that's wonderful!! I love the idea you had for the arms and the expression is perfect!!

janey-in-a-bottle In reply to Eternay [2012-04-08 09:31:33 +0000 UTC]
thank you.
I had to get the expression right at first try this time. didn't have my black embroidery thread with me, so I had to use the fuzzing black crochet yarn. so I'm quite relieved it worked out right away.
wish I could have used wire for the arm with the fish though...

Congratulations one more time then!! and I think that arm turned out very well too! :]

janey-in-a-bottle In reply to Eternay [2012-04-11 08:51:34 +0000 UTC]
thanks. it's hard to compromise between the arm being freely movable and being stable enough to hold the fish up on its own.
so, for now he's "dragfish" more than he's "shakefish". unless I take him and wave him around.

Eternay In reply to janey-in-a-bottle [2012-04-23 15:11:13 +0000 UTC]
Ahah, I see! XD you could use a spring but in that way you couldn't cover the arm with the yarn! :/
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
janey-in-a-bottle In reply to Eternay [2012-04-23 15:48:31 +0000 UTC]
haha, but it would certainly be funny. would have to be a sturdy spring, to be able to hold up the fish. but flexible enough that poking the fish will make it shake... hmmm...
and I could sew the other hand directly to the body so that I wouldn't have to worry about that arm being different from the other.
I really like that idea. might put the emote back onto my to do list for a revamp some day.

Eternay In reply to janey-in-a-bottle [2012-04-26 10:52:09 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it's not simple to find the right spring, I didn't think about it!

janey-in-a-bottle In reply to Eternay [2012-04-26 13:24:38 +0000 UTC]
I'll just keep that idea in mind and should I come across the perfect spring, I'll make another shakefish emote.

yeah. at least that one's not smelly.
the wire for the arm didn't work out, btw. but this way, I can shake the emote and the fish is moving around wildly. that's far too much fun. I've done it a few times already.

somehow, most of those line mouths end up looking smiling. no idea why. have him next to my laptop right now and the smile is gone. probably depends on the angle from which you look at him and if a flash is used or not.

hey i need your help with something. our homework for design history is to make a critique on someone's art on dA and have them reply. it would be lovely if i can do it for your works since i know you reply to almost every comment
just note that i have to be really blunt and straighforward with the critique
