Description
NEW! I've made an animated 3D version of this character! You can also click here for an interactive 3D turntable of the model.
For this assignment, we had to design a hero, sidekick and anti-hero (they actually meant "badguy", so that's what I made), based on the style (and story, if you liked to) of an animation movie or series, but in a cartoony fashion.
I chose the 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' 3D movie/series.

Petey's back-story:
This is Petey, the sidekick of my assignment.
He was officially known as "PT4-U, CIS - Class 2 / Engineering Droid" before he was reprogrammed by Jolly.
Apart from helping Jolly maintain her arm and their ship, Petey was given the not-unimportant job of carrying Jolly's equipment in the field.
Petey was discovered by Jolly in the cargo bay of the maintenance craft she stole in order to escape the CIS Medical Facility that she had gone to after the accident/trap that had cost her an right arm and which had mutilated her partner, Roger.
Petey turned out very useful, as he helped Jolly with designing and fitting her a bionic arm, outfitted with a custom integrated vibro-whip/grappling hook combo.
(Be sure to also read the backstories of Jolly and Roger!
They might look the same, but that's just because they overlap at some points.
If you skip them, you won't get the complete story

Love this. Somehow reminds me of the robogrunt from Half-Life, did you get any inspiration from that?

I've actually never heard of those robogrunts before, but I just looked them up and they're pretty neat
It would've been a lot cooler to have those chasing you in HL, instead of the regular Opposing Forces.
My main inspiration for Petey were the Star Wars podracer pit droids.
(Those little brown droids that fold up.)
Petey's original design function is also somewhat the same as those. (engineer/mechanic)

Can you believe my teachers saw the fatty outlines as a downside?
Even with the assignment stating it should be executed in a "cartoony" style...
But hey, still got 15/20 for it
(Btw, I'll be posting some more stuff related to these in a few moments, one of which is a close-up of Petey's head, showing all the details in his "lens-eye" )

no, I can't actually believe that!! I can't see this looking as nice with a thinner outline, as then I'd feel that some of the joints and parts would blend in with each other more than they should
and cool, I'll check it out when it's up XD
