Heh...I just realized that almost all my OCs would be considered "vile sinners" by Aude and Roland's standards. Though, to be fair David waited until Zoe was legal (he's almost two years older than her), but that was more out of fear of her uncle. Something about a dark magic user/frontman of a heavy metal band threatening to "rip out your soul, use it as toilet paper, and then putting it back in" tends to scare people.

Aude and Roland lean toward more the "We're all sinners, so let's do better!" side of things. At the very least, Aude does. She's more on the mercy side of things while Roland handles most of the justice. Either way, they're more focused on fighting demons and keeping the streets safe than they are worrying about what others get up to in the bedroom.

True, though I'm sure Aude would be shocked at the fact David is an atheist (though it makes sense given what he is and his fear that he's not "real" and that his "soul" is just complex algorithms and AI subroutines uploaded into a meat puppet).
On a side note, David hates the story of Pinocchio, it hits too close to home for him...something that his biological father loves to taunt him about when they do clash.

Your comment made me take a brief look at medieval European atheism. Found a Reddit post (great source, I know) claiming that not believing in God isn't really talked about in medieval sources, not even when coming up with stories to demonize enemies. They leaned more towards "they worship demons!" or "they believe x heresy!" instead of "they don't believe in any sort of divinity!"
Then I found an article talking about curses/blasphemies people allegedly shouted when losing gambling games, according to the Spanish Inquisition. Some denied the existence of God.
So I dunno. Gotta read more.
