Description
The quotes came from "Boys Crusade" by Paul Fussell except for the very last part. It seemed like Ameria to rub more salt into the wound XDThis perfectly illustrated the tensions between British and American troops while they prepared themselves for D-Day, which meant America staying at England's house for several months... yeaaaah...
Compared to America and British troops, the American wages were much higher: $17/week compared $3/week for privates. This also made them attractive to local girls (and prostitutes). American troops also had access to goods, which were rare due to rationing: foodstuff, cigarettes, and even nylon stockings. The last bit about General Eisenhower was a really sore for British officers. General Montgomery supposedly voiced his opinion on that matter loudly and repeatedly.
