Description
There are two locations of Arkham within Gotham City; the old Elizabeth Arkham Asylum located on Arkham Island, where it served as a dark reminder of Gotham's disturbing past, and there is The New Arkham facility, located within The Narrows. When Batman first came back to the scenes, Gotham had a list of places in which they were to build the new facility. Many places Gotham areas were considered but were either labeled as historical landmarks or places of great business. So many of Gotham's "well-respected" politicians opted to have the new Arkham built within the center of The Narrows. Located what was once called Mercy Island in the middle of the Gotham River, The Narrows is section of Gotham that consists of run down slums, and seeing as The Narrows would not get any better, it was in the best interest of Gotham that the new Arkham Asylum be built there. Whether or not this was a good idea has long since been debated. Though it's only a matter of time before the Old Asylum rises again.
