Wolves are predators, human are a only a source of food if you wonder into their hunting grounds, otherwise you are of little interest to them, wolves may not go directly for humans but they can and will kill. Deer and the like are their normal prey

I really think they are misunderstood indeed-both by people like you calling them vicious (a little bit hard, hm? I don't think animals really are ever "vicious" in this sense. They might act aggressive, they might be dangerous and they might in some cases cause severe problems to people living close to them: yes to all of this-but vicious? I'm not a native speaker so I hope I got the meaning of this word correct, but it implies being "evil" in a way, doesn't it?)and poeple who really believe wolves are peaceful animals (LOL!) and try to glorify them to something they certainly are not- they are wolves, not more than that. And they are good the way they are. Neither "evil" nor "holy"-just animals.

I had someone tell me that wolves are misunderstood, friendly and nice.
They argued with me because I told them that meeting a wolf at a wolf sanctuary is a semi-trained, submissive wolf and not a good example.
For some farmers, wolves are pests like rats or mice and for someone to hate farmers that kill wolves while they're sittin at home wiping peanut butter on a rat trap is so hypocritical.
