Huzzah! Another one down, and Rand only took me, like, three days! Granted, his overall design is also simpler than Elise's, so that may have been a contributing factor to it. I do kind of feel like his sheet may still be a bit empty though. The hardest part about Rand would have probably been nailing his face. I just realised that I've never drawn him face-on before, which was why his front view headshot was so awkward to draw -- his head is always in a 3/4 view. Unlike Elise, I'm happier with the final result -- I feel like I screwed it up less, but then again, Rand's initial design hasn't changed from then to now.
I foresee myself doing a lot of measurements for this ref sheet series. Last time, it was Elise and her sword. This time, it's Rand's scarf and claws. Next up in the line is Kazi, and I hope I have as good of a run as I did with Rand.

Nice work on Rand here. I can see how some parts were trickier, like the scarf and claws (claws especially since I didn't give the best imagery for how they should look). You did a good job on the headshots, and the armor just looks rockin' for Rand. Nice job once more.

Thanks. Good thing this is the second time I'm drawing them, otherwise it would have taken a a whole lot longer.

Haha. True. You already have an idea for these characters, so it's just a matter of exposition and working out how to draw them with specific focuses.

Yeah, that's right. I never imagined now much measuring there would be going on, though. I've taken out my ruler and calculator several times for measuring various things for proportion's sake.

Considering his height, scarf, claws and other accessories, I am not too surprised. He has quite a few things to keep in mind when considering his length and other such necessities.

Thankfully, I'm a bit more consistent in measuring things than I was when drawing the Chaos and Corruption group shot. Those were all guesswork, unfortunately, and the seated/crouching poses distracted me a bit from height proportions. I'm just glad that the others don't actually have a lot to measure out. Kazi has his sword, Sarisa has her staff, I'll probably have to measure out Sebastian's bow, but that's about it. I've given specific numbers for Yu-na's ribbons and sleeves, and Gerome's bullwhip has a standard length.

Makes the most sense. And, the more you do, the more you have a sense for these measurements.

Eeyup! Besides, some of the measurements look to be alright on paper, but in reality, are somewhat unrealistic because of the way I draw the characters (Manga-semi realism proportions mean longer arms and legs than IRL, so while the measurements make sense in-universe, trying to transfer them into real-life would be hard)

Good point. But it still looks rad. Which means you did awesome constructing Rand in this form.

Huzzah! I only hope I'll figure something out when it comes to drawing the Keepers, because it's almost the exact same outfit and I'm trying not to repeat the poses for variety's sake.
