According to its creator Owen Dennis, it was supposed to be up to eight seasons but most of the crew had been laid off and the series was at risk of not being renewed for a fifth season. On the top of that, Dennis suggested that HBO Max might be concerned that the series' stories and themes were too dark and unappealing to children, hence the fourth season became the final season of this series.
