***SPOILER ALERT FOR TODAY'S US-AIRED NEW EPISODE***
...Well that escalated quickly.
Jasper's Actual Thoughts: ...ok, I'll admit, when I first read this episode's description, I thought I was gonna HATE it (I dunno, maybe because I still have issues with Every Little Thing She Does). But after watching it... I actually liked it. We finally get the episode we wanted: one focused on Celestia and Luna's relationship... and it delivered! Also I actually bad for Starlight... She was just trying to help and she just went with her gut, and she feels like she ruined everything... but in the end, it all turned out ok... so YAY! Though I just have two issues:
1) Does this mean that the map can call ANY pony... or just Starlight? If the latter, I at least hope they have an explanation for it. If the former.... than cool, maybe we'll get to see some unique duos and see how other ponies solve friendship problems.
2) …gah! Twilight, I love you to pieces… but you’re kinda making it more difficult here!
's actual thoughts: Really loved it. Sisters felt like sisters, and Starlight's at her best in this. The performances of the sisters were spectacular, and I hope we can get more episodes like this soon.

Well, I wish I could be happy like most viewers have been, and I'm sure this will get me lots of hate, but I really didn't enjoy this episode. Glimmer shilling, Twilight's portrayal borderline sad, the Map just calling anyone now apparently, plus of course Starlight gets called alone because she's special, the sisters bickering about something they should've worked out after EPISODE TWO so now all the effort that went into it feels kind of wasted...
I want to like it. I really really do. I don't like feeling like I may have been better off not seeing the episode at all.

Honestly, there was no other choice aside from Starlight.
Twilight - obviously bias student
rest of mane 6 - revere Celestia as a god and Luna as a friend, they'd be afraid to say anything negative about sunshine
Spike - he's good when the episode focuses on dragons but fails hard when he's with ponies
Trixie and Maud - wouldn't be able to communicate properly with the princesses
Discord - both princesses hate him

Or, you know, have Twilight prove she can be more than a biased, stupid, neurotic mess so Starlight can look good even when she's messing up terribly. Or not include her. I'd rather not have Twilight appear when all she's doing is being a Glimmer prop.

I'm more focused on the fact that Daybreaker is what happens when Celestia loses her "World of Cardboard" mentality than Starlight's f**kup.

As for the episode, I agree that I didn't hate Starlight as much as I thought I would (not only because I have issues with "Every Little Thing She Does", but because I have issues with the latter half of "The Cutie Remark"). Although I do have one issue about the map summoning Starlight; my initial reaction was exactly the same as Twilight's (squeaky gasp). I kinda wish that, if the map is able to call Starlight, her first mission wouldn't be a solo mission. We could have seen her interactions with one of the other Mane Six (like, for example, Fluttershy).
Though part of me is glad that a solo mission was done. It means that my headcanon that the map can summon any number of ponies besides two and six is validated. I hope we get to see a mission where three ponies are summoned.

This was my favorite episode of season 7 and now it is my favorite episode in the entire series. Somehow this one episode toppled Twilight's Kingdom and it gave us so much more development that we did not know of Celestia while also learning a bit more of Luna as sisters. Though I agree with you Jasper, I love Twilight to bits as my favorite Pony, but I feel like Twilight should have gone anyway at the very least to assist Starlight instead of just using some spell being nosy of how it was going.
Also quick question Joey. How is Key there with ya? did her and GoldenFox come by at the time to pay you a visit or did you both watch it online together?

I too hope this means other ponies will be called by the map. I want the map to call Dr. Whooves and Derpy on a mission. I don't care what, I just want it to call them.

So far, I think the map can only call the closest friends to the Princess of Friendship, BUT it'd be awesome if it could call anypony! Let's have it call Derpy/Muffins next time! I know it can be done. oo
