Inturpritation of a gothic style unicorn. I hate the new-age kind of unicorns, big white horse with a horn... that's SO a 20th century perversion of the mythology. Unicorns historically represented a lot of things including sodomy, death, distruction, wickedness, and the vices. They weren't always smiles and sunshine.So, in honor of that long and sometimes dark history. Here's a black Uni'. My desperate attempt to break the mental and creative block I've been suffering for the last two weeks.

I agree with you...but did you even think why are unicorns so different if you look around? It depends on his creators and their mood. This is bit old-school unicorn, in original myth their apperance was body building like lion, with a lot of mane and smaller, shorter head. Its your opinion and i accept it.

Wow, I never knew that about unicorns. The reason I liked them so much was not because they were all happy and sunshine and such. That was actually sort of annoying. I like them because they're mystical, and beautiful. But maybe I should do some research on it.

I love black unicorns. Spiraling dancing unicorns are especially lovely. I teach a class on unicorns and you'd be surprised at how sugary they're presented as opposed to their darker side which was more prevalent in history.

Wow, I've always been quite picky about unicorn pictures. The originals are the best. No one portrays anything like they were originally thought to be.
And before my rendering of the unicorn was the one on the cover of The Last Unicorn (the one in the movie was nice too).
It's nice to know there are still people who think of them this way.

Yes, they do have dark spots in their history, it's nice to see something other then the everyday pure white horse so many think of when they hear unicorn. Though it's look reminds me rather of Cerberus more then said unicorn.

I like your take on the unicorn. I really like how your unicorn doesn't look like a horse with a horn. I sort of recall their bodies resembling deer than horses. Very nice indeed!

Even in ancient mythology, they had the power of healing and were seen as virtuous. This is beautiful, though, and I agree with the horse thing. I rather like the lion tale a lot better.

So true. That really is an amazing drawing, but I completely agree with you. Unicorns are not rainbows and sunshine, they are death and murder... well sorta. In many old Greek and Roman pictures, they are white but displayed with blood on their hooves and alihorn. I hate people that make fun of me 4 liking unicorns. They are actually murderous beasts
