Description
This is for a commission from a man named Ty Buttars who's only instruction was to pick any sci fi or comic book character I wanted (except Batman) and draw them dancing the Batusi. And I chose DC comics' Lobo. Don't know why he came to mind, but he did. And here's the results.Serious thanks to Ty for hiring me to do such a fun commish, and even more serious thanks to my best cartooning broham Evan Shaner for encouraging Ty to hire me. that damn -tusi was bugging the hell out of me all day, since I couldn't quite make out what he was doing in the thumbnail and didn't have the time this morning to look at the fullsize image. spent the whole day say tusi to myself and trying to work it out, because I knew I knew it.
mystery solved in one of the most fantastic ways imaginable.

Now that's just awesome. Being a parody character and all, there are quite a few cartoony looking Lobo comics out there, always the best ones too

Thank you! My biggest goal on this piece was to avoid having my Lobo design look at all like the Bruce Timm Lobo design from Justice League (or whichever Timm-produced superhero show he appeared on). I love Timm's work, but I wanted my own take, y'know? Thanks for liking it!

You certainly succeeded! It's always fun to do your own version of things. And I can tell you, being a geek and all, that Lobo was in the Timm Superman and Justice League cartoons. Not much, but it was always fun when he showed up.

Y'know, I never was much of a Lobo fan myself. Personally, I always thought he was DC's attempt to rip-off Wolverine. But for whatever reason, Lobo popped into my head for this commish, probably because of how ridiculous it would seem for him to do the Batusi. Crazy town, I tells ya!

I'm happy with how it turned out, though jeez, I don't know what Keith Giffen and Simon Bisley were thinking when they designed him, other than "Let's make him as ornate and complicated as all get out!" Still, the more complicated the character, the more fun to draw!
