Description This was a commission for where he asked for a drawing of Merilee, the tambourine-playing member of "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kids" cartoon. It was an old Hanna Barbera show from the 70's where a group of teenagers perform in a band, which is a front for their spy activities. Like Scooby Doo, they solved crimes with the aid of their snickering dog, Elvis. With this commish Iwanted to show both the musical side and the espionage side of Merilee, plus I wanted to make sure I created a good rockin' pose for her, which I'm satisfied that I did. So, here's one more commish for my classic cartoon commission drive....wanna have one of your own to add to the collection? Note me and I'll make it happen!

Beautiful! Merilee was my favorite H-B teen mystery solver. Expert in disguises, ace helicopter pilot, musically in tune, and a partner Butch Cassidy can trust! Great go go boots, too!

The original Spy Girl before Kim Possible and those Totally Spies chicks!

Thank you! I know I took some liberties by giving her silhouette a gun, but I figured it was the only way to show her spy roots, y'know? I've been fortunate in that my last few commissions have allowed me to draw my favorite HB ladies, and Merilee is definitely in my top three now!

Of course, Merilee didn't use firearms because of Saturday AM guidelines.

She's more into quiet stealth with her disguises to get the information she wants. She's probably more expert in hand to hand combat for self-defense...and keeping Wally and Elvis the dog in line.

Now that's hot! I drew Merilee once before, and I didn't do her anywhere near the level of justice that you did!

Hey JB, were you still commissioning me to draw Frankie from Fosters? Just checking, 'cause the payment hadn't showed up yet, and I didn't want to pass you by if it got lost in the mail or something!

Sure am! I still need to mail that check, actually (sorry for keeping you waiting, dude). In fact, I'm gonna send it out tomorrow - no more procrastinatin'!

Why are women in Hanna-Barbera cartoons incapable of learning real instruments?
Seriously...

Actually, Steffi from "Butch Cassidy" played bass guitar!

Yeah, I guess there are exceptions.
For instance, Josie & The Pussycats were all girls so they couldn't ALL play the tambourine...

...the black one played the tambourine.

Never heard of or watched the show in my life, but I oh-so dig your take on it here. Very James Bond-esque, in a way X)
