Description Ape Entertainment got the rights to produce a Sesame Street comic book awhile back, and I was one of many comic creators brought on to work on it. This is a one page story I wrote and drew for issue #1. I was only told to pick a Sesame Street character and have the story deal with using your imagination. I chose to use the Count because he's one of my favorite characters, and I made a point to slip in the late, great Jerry Nelson (the Count's original performer) as the used car salesman. Jerry passed away the day before I got the call that I was accepted to work on the book, and as I am a lifelong fan of The Muppets, it seemed like the touch of fate somehow.

Jerry Nelson cameo! He was the best with voices and singing.

This is exactly how he'd be thinking of a car!

I always got a kick out of how stately and noble they make the Count look with that monocle. After all, he is a count (royalty and all)!

Great job! And in the family-friendly spirit of the show, too!

Your style works very well for the muppets; very authentic. My only disappointment is the Count-Car, which I would have expected more like a "Wacky Racer"-style machine.

I was limited to using a car design that Sesame Workshop approved, based off previous designs from their children's books.

That's understandable, but unfortunate... I'm sure that you could develop a awesome concept car for the Count that would look like a design collaboration between the Groovy Ghoulies and the Batmobile.

My wife and I picked up the Free Comic Book day issue of Sesame Street and found it adorable. We're planning on picking up more of the series as 1) we have a little boy who'll be reading comic books soon enough and he's sure to love it, and 2) I, too, am a wild Muppet fan who refuses to grow up.

The Count seems like one of the few Sesame Street characters who has needed to change or lost screen time.
Every now and then I find myself on PBS and I almost always see him.

Strangely enough, I was watching a recorded hour of Counting Cars on the History Channel before this popped up on my dashboard. I don't suppose that the Count would take that car directly from the lot to Danny's shop to trick that thing out like Grandpa Munster's Dragula. Sad to hear about Jerry's passing, and you've certainly honored him with this piece.
