I started this animation back in mid January. This video short is a tribute to an amazing unofficial contest we have over at He-man.org called the ‘Fan Staction Contest’ held annually by Thomas Tolman & it brings about the evolution of some of the greatest character concepts ever. The Winner of the contest is transformed into a 6” + statue by Mr. Tolman. I’d like to clarify that all of these are not my original characters, each of them is created by fans at the .org. But I have done the entire Animation completely on my own with a few assists from Patreek Ireland & Andrew Cramer. This Animation has been done with Toon Boom Studio 4.5 & ofcourse Adobe Photoshop CS2 & complied together with Adobe Premiere Pro.Also I in order to avoid any copyright issues this I came up with a totally different concept that would separate these characters from the MOTU Universe just for this particular intro & decided to name is “Chronicles of the Forgotten Realm.”
I would like to thank every He-man.org member for their support & permission to allow me to use their characters.
Last but not the least I’d like to thank Mark Palenik for creating the original music for this 1:30 min animation with his song “Lost”. Thanks Mark!
Also I forgot to credit for his character Inkshot. Sorry bout that.

LOL with a lot of hard work for 2 & 1/2 months & a love towards these amazing characters & their creators & hopefully making a little impact on my animation portfolio. So far I think I've achieved that.

the characters and their design are not really encouraging you to keep watching this--first time i saw it,i closed it! since i didn't feel like it was worth watching
the song as well...it's not really likable i couldn't understand a word he was saying
the posses and angles are quite interesting but sometimes the bodies [especially the heads] get crooked and are not really fitting the previous pose
but what really bothered me is that some of the events that happened i couldn't understand! it's like it seems that some frames were missing because you couldn't quite catch what happened before!! "are those creatures just came from his cloth?!"

I'm sorry you feel that way, these characters are based off entries from a fan contest. only two of them are my created characters. as for the song if ya want to rad it I've posted it in the description. I think you'll hear it fine once you glance at the lyrics. Also I mentioned this before, this is only my second animation in the past six months & I'll try my best to improve in the coming years. As for events, there are no real events happening, this is just an opening video & I wanted to showcase these characters the best I could. There's about 25 of them & the time was limited to 1:40 mins....and th creatures didn't come out from the cloth, rather his body.

So in other words you completely and utterly lack a visual vocabulary to understand a video that is basically a character montage, or you are just ragging on it because you have something against the designs.
While this animation is rough and could use a lot of work the "problems" you seem to be having do not strike me as legitimate problems.

Considering I don't know the person at all and just stumbled upon it today it's pretty hard to classify me as his "supportive" friend.
I feel more of a need to just point out that you absolutely suck at critiquing and I will be happy knowing that the creator probably ignored it as the useless pile of drivel that it is.
Learn to be objective rather than subjective for one thing or don't bother trying to critique because seriously you suck at it.

Either the art school you boast about going to is absolute shit, or it's doing you absolutely no good because like it or not your anatomy is poorly proportioned, awkward and stiff.
If you think your critique on this piece was valid you have crap reading comprehension since basically all the creator did was explain himself to you and refute your stupid little "wah this sucks and confuses me" splurge, shame on you as "going to animation school" to be unable to figure out what the hell is going on here. Yet another example of your school either sucking or doing you no good.

The animation gets smoother and more fluid as the animation progresses. Great action shots as well. The transitions in the more "quiet" parts could've been smoother (with the help of Flash, for example).
To make this in just a few months is a great achievement, I think. Keep up the goodness!

I have to agree with you. I need to work more to get a better more realistic feel to my animations. I'm really happy you like it . I honestly don't know how to operate flash(especially when it comes to drawing) too well but I'm very comfortable with Toon Boom Studio.
