Yes family values exists. The primary purpose of marriage is to sustain a family for the next generation as that is what sustains a civilization. Inequality isn't wrong. Equality is. Look at Sweden when they made equality a right between cultures, a nation of rape and chaos while importing actual homophobes.

Yes there is harm done. Children are harmed and even denied a mother or a father. Plus it is one's right to deny homosexuality if they want.

I laugh at these people saying "BUT TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE THOUGH-"

Fuck "traditional marriage". Hetero parents are probably more shitty for me. I'd much rather have two mothers. Love is love, get the fuck over it!

So people ought to accept the beliefs that are all of the sudden the full, incorruptible truth as oppose to the traditions we've kept for four thousand years?

jball430 In reply to PeteSeeger [2014-06-28 15:18:25 +0000 UTC]

What "incorruptible truth"? People should be able to live their lives the way they see fit without government sticking its nose into things? Abso-fucking-lutely. Besides, it's not as if homosexuality is a new thing; it's been a part of humanity than mass organized religion. Not to mention that just because the masses are idiots and can be fooled into believing in a magical sky fairy doesn't make their views any more of the truth.

PeteSeeger In reply to jball430 [2014-06-28 15:24:21 +0000 UTC]

I was being sarcastic with that first part.
My point is why should people surrender their personal beliefs because of other people's personal beliefs about what exactly their rights are.

jball430 In reply to PeteSeeger [2014-06-28 19:48:00 +0000 UTC]

Prey tell what personal beliefs you would have to surrender if gays were allowed to marry in the US? None because it wouldn't affect your beliefs. Your beliefs are your own, they will remain intact until you change them. You could try to argue that it's your belief that society will spiral down the drain with gay marriage being legalized, but I'm not seeing any attempts to ban divorce. There's also a lot of other things in society that Christians should be trying to stop because it degrades morality. To some extent, sure, there is some activism, but homosexuality seems to be made an example of being the scourge to end all scourges; at least, that's what all the attention it gets seems to suggest.

Either way, this doesn't change the fact that you can live your life the way you see fit and raise your children to be as bigoted and indoctrinated as you so choose, but that doesn't mean others should have to tow that same line. Hell, you Christians can't even agree on set beliefs. The Catholic church is quite a bit different from Baptists, and Baptists are different from Mor(m)ons, and Mor(m)ons are different from Lutherans, and so on and so forth.

Lastly, giving gays the right to marry doesn't take away from our rights to marry. A gay couple marrying doesn't mean that's one less heterosexual couple able to marriage. I have no reason to think you feel this way, and I imagine you don't, but so many people seem to feel that heterosexual rights are infringed upon by letting gays marry, and it's absurd. Affirmative action is wrong; legalizing gay marriage isn't.

PeteSeeger In reply to jball430 [2014-06-29 11:02:02 +0000 UTC]

If it were up to me divorce would be illegal, with the logical exceptions of course.

Yes, I am lightly bigoted against Protestants. Mainly the super-fundies who give us all a bad name and the liberals who ignore everything in the Bible except for "Judge not..."

I can tell by what you have posted that you are a white, "American" (and I quote that because only the natives are true Americans) republican, Christian, and SELF ABSORBED. Don't be an ass? Really? Don't be a HOMOPHOBE. It's going to be the whole black and white thing again! Gays have this water fountain, normals have this-NO! You seriously disgust me. Why live life in a straight line? Why not wander, see the view, RECOGNIZE A FRIGGIN' RAINBOW FOR GOD'S SAKE! I am so upset right now. I hope you are happy for making a lot of people sad, upset, angry, and straight on PISSED. Do you want people to pick on you because of your hair colour? Hmm? What about your shoe size, huh? What about your gender, or race? Or SEXUALITY? Ever thought about anyone else's feelings? Oh, people can say girl+boy=<3 and girl+girl=<3 and boy+boy=<3, but I say human+human=<3 human+human=<3 and HUMAN+HUMAN=<3 Well, Happy Birthday, because you just made a lot of people depressed upset and angry.

I hope you are happy.

Support all Gay Lesbian rights, do the right thing! Just do what you dare, oh, I'm straight but not narrow!

*sigh*

I can tell by what you have posted that you are illiterate. Did you even read the fucking stamp?! It's PRO-GAY MARRIAGE. Holy fuck, you must be incredibly daft to completely ignore what the stamp stands for and attack me on my PREVIOUS beliefs that I held SEVERAL years ago. You got it right that I'm white and American, but that's it. I'm a libertarian, an atheist, and well, I guess maybe a little self-absorbed. Apparently, your observation skills suck, so I wouldn't make a career out of it.

We're on the same side, but if you can't pay the fuck attention then fuck off.

The entirety of homosexual relationships and marriages is not harmful. Isolated cases can be, but the same thing happens in heterosexual relationships and marriages. Overall, "belief" should have nothing to do with equality by law.

Sugulitis In reply to RS-Kyra [2012-03-11 21:42:53 +0000 UTC]

I don't have any hard feelings for them. They have powerful inclinations that can be difficult to control. Like Jesus Christ does, I love them. I do not condone the sin though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RS-Kyra In reply to Sugulitis [2012-03-11 22:50:35 +0000 UTC]

Whether you and yours "condone" it or not shouldn't affect them. Your beliefs aren't fact for others, and even calling it "powerful inclinations can be difficult to control" is still insensitive and rude.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sugulitis In reply to RS-Kyra [2012-03-13 23:25:51 +0000 UTC]

I'm not going to sugarcoat it or lie. That's exactly what I believe. If other choose to allow themselves to be offended, that's entirely their problem. You know why? Because it's not mean. It's what I like to call the truth. Truth is the ultimate reality.

Then your beliefs should affect mine either. Tolerance is a two-way street, my friend.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RS-Kyra In reply to Sugulitis [2012-03-14 04:23:27 +0000 UTC]

That's a truth to you, not to me and not to thousands of other people. Your variation of the truth cannot be forced onto others that don't agree; it's unfair to withhold rights from the homosexual community just because people like you don't agree with them.

I don't expect my beliefs to affect you.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sugulitis In reply to RS-Kyra [2012-03-15 17:38:04 +0000 UTC]

Then it's unfair to force your truth on to me. I have an ankle deep conviction of the meaning of marriage, and that changing it like so would be catastrophic for society. So whether or not you expect your views to affect me, they shall.
