Yeah, so I hate PETA. Is that such a bad thing? Nah, I didn't think so.If you're a die hard PETA supporter, watch Penn & Teller's Bullshit episode on PETA. It's quite the hypocritical little organization.

As somebody how cares DEEPLY about animals, I think that the vegans that tell people to not eat meat are in the wrong. Instead if telling people not to eat meat, they should tell them to support free range farms.

PETA should've thought about their organization name a bit more I think. Or perhaps it was the lack of iron and protein in their diet. I prefer to assumeΒ the latter.

Humans were meant to eat meat. It is, after all, what gave us a powerful brain, so I've thought of starting an organization called Predators for the Ethical Treatment of Prey. It's like PETA, but you're allowed to have pets and eat meat. However, you can't eat KFC, McDonald's, or any other franchise that raises stock in unhealthy conditions. Five Guys, for example, is fine, though.

And there's also one point to consider:
How will there be animal rights? Some of them freakin support that. Of course, that can't happen. You do that, you also need laws. If you acknowledge that they won't be able to follow them, but keep the rights there, they become superior to us. Support of animal welfare is good and pretty necessary, since the animals can feel, at any rate. But they cannot think on their own and make decisions or follow laws and respect the rights of others, so animal rights would be utopic.

PeTA is nuts. Sorry guys, I'm proud to own pets, I have an aquarium in my bedroom.
And I eat and have eaten all kinds of tasty animals! Let's see... cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, various fish, crabs, lobsters, shrimp, scallops, I've tried frog (frog legs), deer (and I'll say, venison is tasty!), squid, alligator (I tried some alligator... it's actually quite tasty)...
Hey, PeTA! Did you know that by not allowing the consumption of animal flesh, there goes a good portion of our food supply? Not just meat, but not allowing us to take the milk that cows or goats or what-have-you feed their children with, we have no cheese or other dairy products?
Besides, did they not hear of people with pets living longer because of the companionship?
PeTA, you guys are batshit insane -_-;

i more so support the farms around my home. the ones where the owners just sort of take care of strays (get them neutered and feed them but otherwise they're strays) by bringing by cat food every now and again.
its a really direct way of helping animals which makes me feel good.

I love the idea of spaying and neutering feral communities and releasing them. That way, they can't reproduce, and then we're not senselessly putting animals down or wasting cages on animals that won't be adopted. It's a win-win situation.

I wish I could say I pitied the animals that I eat. Actually, that was a lie. Humans didn't evolve to the top of the food chain without exploiting what the Earth gave us, so why should I be ashamed of my place at the top of the food chain?

Chron-wolf [2009-04-30 00:25:22 +0000 UTC]
I agree.
PETA is out of their minds.
I support animal's rights, but PETA goes way beyond that.
Humans keeping animals as pet's isn't abuse- unless they're harming them. In fact, if it was abuse, then humans wouldn't have pets.
And, though I eat meat, I don't see it as an animals who was chopped up alive or anything. If they were, then the company would have been shut down by now.
These aren't the days when butchers beheaded a chicken while it was still alive.

you know whats funny how..
1) they all eat tasty meat
2) they say they are vegans
3) dont relize that plants are meat eaters as well. an animal dies get picked clean by the scavengers but wht isnt eaten is eventualy absorbed in to the grass, trees and then back in to the plant eating animals? it like they only think thourgh half of the food chain.

whats your feelings on animal rights in general? i also have quite a distaste for peta, but im a huge supporter of animal rights... im actually a fan of the organization compassion in world farming, which advocates treating animals with love and respect for their lives... so to kill them for meat shouldnt be an awful process - a life with no light and nowhere to move or graze only to end up being half alive and tortured when going through the slaughtering process. instead, the advocate going back to times before factory farming and what not, the animal lives like a normal animal for a while, and then is slaughtered with respect.

jball430 In reply to asher27 [2008-12-15 15:52:02 +0000 UTC]
I'm in between on the whole thing. I do think they deserve to be treated humanely, but on the other hand, they're just animals. I'm leaning more towards the humane treatment than the turning of a blind eye. Still, I can't shake the idea that inhumane treatment makes it cheaper for us, and ultimately it doesn't make too big of a difference besides the clear conscience of some consumers. *shrugs*

theyre gods animals, and should be treated with the respect they deserve.
if inhumanely treating people cut costs, would it be right? it most certainly wouldnt.
not always do the ends justify the means, unfortunately.

jball430 In reply to asher27 [2008-12-15 21:06:12 +0000 UTC]
ACTUALLY, I would support treating people inhumanely. Mostly because people could decide to quit whenever conditions got too bad. Which does bring up your point. Especially since animals can't avoid the inhumane treatment, doesn't that mean we should take extra care to treat them humanly? Perhaps.

i believe all creatures should be treated humanely, even if their actions are the scum of the earth it does not matter. to treat someone or some creature inhumanely you would lower yourself to that level.

I get it though...

Cirlin [2008-12-01 12:59:41 +0000 UTC]
Why is the subject of debate on the first page 'animals'? The stamp is about PETA as a group. As A group, (from what little research I've done) I think they're going about things the wrong way, often self-contradictory and damning, so I can't support them. I am for animal rights, I believe they have 'souls' and do dream, but that's irrelevant here. What's reliant here is how PETA acts.
