Woot! Tis the new BLACK BAT, (or is it Blackbat?). Tis Cassandra Cain, once known as Batgirl II (or III if you're hardcore DC historian like that). My fave batgirl of all time. She is now the Batman of Hong Kong and she kicks Triad Ass. LOVE HER.

But yay! LOVE Cass's new outfit! Sadly I still have not done it justice. She's meant to have a tattered cape. Some have drawn it like Ragman's cape (which it's supposed to be, something between "Ragman and Spawn"...the main designer's words, not mine) and some have drawn it like a collection of tattered ribbons behind her. All I know is that it suits her. She's not a polished sparkly heroine. She's been thru hell and back and she's fallen from grace a few times. I don't think its an accident that now she'll look more like death bearing down on her enemies. I'm still not completely sold on the mask, but I can't complain cuz it makes drawing her a whole lot easier. lol...yes, I fail at life...*sighs*

But I'm trying!

Coloring black hair and clothes is always a challenge for me. So I figured to try it on Open Canvas see if I could do it there. I never use Open Canvas to color something because I noticed it tends to compress the colors or something making them look kinda strange. I can only save it as jpeg or whatever Open Canvas file they use, so my good work is wasted...:/

Anyways, its also hard to use dark intense colors on Open Canvas. It works like watercolor for me, so I have to brush and rebrush it to get a deep color. But I felt like making it a double challenge so why not? Right hand is sore as heck, but here is the result. Had to use separate layers for everything from hair to mask to cloak to bodysuit to gold belt/symbol so they don't get mixed.

Dunno, kinda like it. I was surprised it saved well. But maybe it's because it's dark colors rather than super saturated colors...hmm...oh well, ENJOY.
