Description
"....He was shot first in the head, and still alive, he drew in the ground a big cross with his blood. After the other shots, he died kissing the cross."Behold a preview of the original comic I have in plans.
Sorry it's kinda graphic and not your typical fluffy fanfare stuff from JB.
Tis my original characters (who I have yet to name and am still figuring out their story) witnessing 14 yr-old Jose Sanchez del Rio's execution in February of 1928 during the Cristero War in Mexico.
Let's see, how do I want my comic to be taken as...
ha ha, got it! Tis my dream to make this the "Rurouni Kenshin" of Mexican comics.
Well, not really. This one is more "Peacemaker Kurogane" than "Rurouni Kenshin" in nature.
Especially since it will have original characters that get involved with tragic historical figures and much violence will ensue.
Will it be historically accurate? Hm, for the most part yes, I will try. But more than likely I will take some artistic license with the historical figures. XD
Hey! watsuki and tons other japanese artists have done it to historical icons, so why not me too?
at any rate, it is also my hope to address both sides of the war and give them fair treatment, cuz yes, there were bad people and good people on both sides. *points to crazy-violent Father Vega as example*
It was indeed a crazy revolution, my grandfather was killed in it before my father was born. The fate of my family changed drastically as a result, But that's a story for another day. X3;
At any rate, figured I'd give folks a slight taste of what my comic would be like. My original characters aren't in their final design, but for now this does a well enough job for this scene.
They are basically.... a naive 14 yr old girl who comes from an upper class family but gets separated from them and is dragged along for the ride. Here she's in disguise dressed like a poor girl. She supports the revolutionaries up to a point.
...and the guy is a 17 yr old middle class student who also gets dragged along for the ride and is rather skeptical of the revolutionaries.
They eventually end up with Jose's group and well...the rest is history...
I used a photo of Jose and sorta aged him for this scene, since I don't know how he looked last when he got in war. I don't imagine he cut his hair often...
Jose Sanchez del Rio was beautified November 5th, 2005.
Damn, that kid had balls. O_o; Call him naive, an idiot or whatever you want, but not many kids these days would have the balls to do what he did. Not for a belief, that's for sure. I know I sure as hell wouldn't. LOL, but yeah, that kid didn't take the easy route at all. Damn...
I hope that general did good with his life, gosh darnit!
Anyways, normally I say, "hope ya like" but I feel weird saying that here.
Eh, let me know what you guys think. If you have any questions, suggestions, whatever, let me know. I need to get motivated to start research on it. XD; I probably won't seriously start it for a year or so. I want to take a special trip to mexico to research this subject and that won't happen this year, I'm positive.
Till the next pic!

I think this is great. And the kid is given due respect in your drawing. This will be a great opportunity for you to drop some knowledge on what happened during those tough times.
And to use real historical figures mixed with your original ones...I love ideas like that! :3
Keep on truckin', girl...

Wow... I love how you plan on keeping with this idea and basing it on your culture. That's incredible. I don't know much about Mexican history but this looks very interesting and when you said you finally had a few sketches, I was thinking more along building designs and maybe a character outline or two. But the picture does look tear inducing, especially the guy who, I'm guessing is about to be killed. The way his eyes are shaped and the fact that he has a small smile on his face is that sad.... Crap, you're making a heartless brat melt with your tear inducing images and I don't even know this character.
Good luck with your research and the drawings. It'll be hard, but I've no doubt in my mind that you can do it. Though now that I've seen a sketch, maybe you should ditch all the fan doujinshi or whatever and focus on this... and yes, I include the Gaa/Hina one as well.
In all seriousness, the only reason I write fanfics is because I'm having a major -annoying- writer's block with my own original story. -Sigh- Either way, I hope this story is a success and you have fun with it at the same time.

hee, well to be honest, my knowledge in mexican history is still iffy. All the revolutions get me so confused. (people kept siding with eachother, then turning against eachother, then switching sides, then fighting against eachother again...oh man, it was a mess! ) But I hope to take classes in it and learn about it.
ah yeah, I've had this scene stuck in my head since I first read about Jose. I hope to make a trip down to Mexico to learn more about him and the other historical figures, since information on this particular war is so hard to get in the US. It was pretty much the last revolution in Mexico, there are still a few survivors still living. (but they're in their 90's so I gotta rush it! )
aww! I'm so happy you were touched by it. ;o; (Yo're heartless? O.o )
LOL, don't let my friend Summoner Lenne hear ya, she's been on my case about my fanfic. But yeah, first I'm going to take some history classes in school, before I start. In the meantime I have been formulating my original characters stories. I think I finally have something for the two main original characters.
aww, well hey, I'm drawing doujinshis and other fanarts to prepare myself for the real thing. So it's really good training.
Yay! thank you! ^^

...Well I did have Gaara throw tennis balls at Hinata... and if that doesn't scream heartless, then what I do in the next chapter of Frenzy will definitely... *mwahahaha!*
Yeah, it does make sense. I do the same thing with my writing. But learning the history of all of this sounds fun. For some reason I love learning about everyone else's history besides my own... Pretty much everyone knows some kind of Black History, but I don't know anything about the Mexicans. I definitely want to read it; I can't write anything historical, but I do like to read about it whenever I can. Wow, I seriously can't wait till you start dishing out the merchandise.
This question might be kind of personal, and if it's offensive you just lemme know, but do you plan on making this a living? I mean making graphic novels? Or do you have other objectives and this is just a personal project to challenge your own self. Either way I think this is a cool and very original idea.

duuuuude, I had been worried about Frenzy...LOL, oh lord, now I'm scared, but hey, you write action so well, I'm hooked. (aaugh, must know what is up with Hinata and Tenten! ) XD;
merchandise...LOL, gosh, don't even wanna think about that.... XD; First let me set up my characters!
LOL....That is something that I'm actually in debate about: What I should do with my life.... (no tis not offensive...O.o ) I hope to graduate in December with a major in Criminal Justice, but really, I'm just so sick of anything pertaining to criminal justice. I don't think I would want to deal with it for a career. But I do need a job, so currently I'm trying to find office work. XD; I plan to do this graphic novel on my free time. I don't have a boyfriend or kids, (just an old father and a teenage brother), and I don't plan to marry, so I'll spend my free time working on this project for as long as I can. Boring life, but I really don't care. XD; Drawing makes me happy so I'm fine with it.

Holy wow. Even for you, these expressions are incredible. Your drawings have just gotten so gorgeous over the years. They were already fantastic, so in a way the most amazing thing to me is how much you've improved even from where you were. I really hope this comic works out and becomes something you can publish.
