Description
1990 was not a leap year, which means there's no comic to post on 1990somethingcomic.com today, but I didn't want to go a whole day without posting anything. Unfortunately, I didn't have the free time to prepare some elaborate new piece, so I had to go a-diggin' in my archives to see what unposted material I had lying around. And I unearthed this non-canonical two-page bit of goofiness from about a year ago, a follow-up to this assortment of sketches:
I figured if a curious science dork like Michelle had the equipment to spare, she probably would try to dunk one of her electronics underwater just to see how long it'd hold out before it drowned completely. After all, if you wanna go on to build a better mousetrap, you need to study the weak spots, right?

Nooooooo, this would destroy me to watch. Even if it is something she wasn't going to use anymore. lol

It's surprisingly easy to make hand-held electronics water proof, once you convert everything to Blue-tooth. Β Buttons are easily made water proof, and touch screen can be made to work underwater. The big problem has always been the holes in the case, like the headphone jack or the charging port.Β

And for those of you who are going to cry about the risk of being electrocuted, even twelve volt DC current wouldn't do more than tingle. It's the higher AC current that is dangerous. Β ^_*

I really like how we see her walking in and getting out. You should do more like it! I hope somebody colors it, too

I love how she comes up for air every few panels. There's a certain charm to it that I can't quite put into words. And as other commenters have said, the expression work is great! (I also love the hair and shirt movements, especially as she's splashing down. Your attention to detail is superb!)

Wow, Michelle looks so good by the end. The Game Boy, not so much.

AA batteries don't carry the kind of juice required to electrocute a human, so no.

Why would you want to imagine that? Do you have an electric shock fetish? o_O

Considering it's a Game Boy, it's a complete waste. I mean, one of those survived a BOMBING... They don't make portable consoles like that anymore.

Usually this stuff comes with a x-large "DonΒ΄t try this at home!" - sign... but on the other hand: a game-boy? Okey-dokey, letΒ΄s give it a try Β

You may be surprised that the Gameboy might have survived that experience, after a little drying and cleaning...
I once lost my Gameboy in a snowbank for half a winter. Went over in the spring, found it after the snow had mostly melted and took it apart and cleaned it. Tried it and it still worked. Of course, my Gameboy was turned off when this happened. That might be the only thing to officially kill the Gameboy in the comic... it was on while it was getting wet...

Nice comic. Great expressions, and the saggy clothes at the end. So she "dropped" it in the pool, but is she going to try to take it apart and fix it? The tech back then was more "robust" then now, so it should be possible. Catalogue the full extent of the damage. A few pieces of scotch tape would have increased the survival rate of the machine. Michelle would draw the line at an intentional toaster bath, but electronics is a bad idea. Of course, what else is she going to use? Bread? Trying to make Tang? You should do more, JB, though the camgirl scene is more "Off the deep end" comic's style.

Nobody likes water levels in games. Not even the games themselves.
