Pokemon Sun & Moon will be out by the end of this week, but the drawing I'm uploading right now isn't exactly about those games specifically. This is basically the byproduct of playing Sonic Generations for a while, and seeing Red's new, older look. "Classic Red" may look a little weird to you, but that's because I tried to stay faithful to the original concept art while still retaining my personal style. But still,I think I did both a good job on him and "Modern Red"; I might just upload standalone, full body drawings for both pretty soon!Some of you are probably wondering how would this idea even work? ...Well, don't ask me, I just drew it for the pun! If I HAD to give an example though, I guess as Classic Red you'd battle with the original format and visuals from the first games (or rather Generation 2, since that's when they split the Special stat). And as for Modern Red, well, obviously it'll be like Sun & Moon. In regards to the plot... Hmmmm, here's an idea; let me hear what you guys have in mind! ...Or not, no big deal!

Red and Ash have been confirmed to be different characters entirely, though Ash bears some similarities to Red.
Red is the character you play as in the Generation 1 games (Red & Blue/Yellow and their remakes, FireRed & LeafGreen), and when you fight him in every game that features him afterwards, he is referred to as such. It is also the name he goes by in Pokemon Origins, an anime mini-series with no ties to the main anime.
Ash Ketchum, the protagonist of Pokemon the Series (official name of the anime) wears an outfit nearly identical to Red's in the Original story arc, but each arc starting with Diamond & Pearl has him mimic the outfit of the male protagonist from the game each story arc is based on (Though in XYZ he is wearing an exact replica of Red's hat). With the exception of games specifically based on the anime, the only hint of Ash's influence on the games is the fact that the Greninja you get from the Sun & Moon Special Demo was originally his.
It's probably the same premise as with Kirby: Right Back at Ya! when compared to the series it's based on; while he's still called Kirby, officially the anime is said to be set in an alternate universe from the game canon.
