Description
OC DiD Rescue Pic; Photoshop Inking & Color.I am awaiting permission to write and submit a literature explanation of this scene, including how it could possibly fit into the FMP-verse, so until then I will keep the story succinct:
***Marshal Marshall Braidy, upon a wildly successful raid within Fremp held territory, takes a moment not only to survey the former battlefield and supervise the withdrawal before more enemy combatants arrive, but also to give a sense of security to an ex-NoMAID captive. The young woman's Control Chip deactivated, Braidy realizes the gal's muffled sobbing as both a comfort of liberating another soul, but also that the strangely familiar looking young lady is beginning the process of coping - #1: FREEDOM.
However, though neither her nor her Armor can detect anything unusual, there is something about this girl, something special, something powerful...***
Coloring Notes:
Marshal Marshall Braidy, leader of AMAZON: I found out that it's pretty hard to highlight white, but I asked for advice, and the best looking alternative was to use gold, so I tried to imitate the metallic plates using such, and shading to allow for an overhead left light source. I tried to give everything a clean, shiny look, as if she hadn't actually taken part in the battle, and also, without resorted to an Anime "twinkling" effect, cement her reputation as the White Knight vs. the FMP. I also tried to go for a golden shine on the simplified emblems.
Ex-NoMAID looks-like-I-know-her-but-maybe-it's-just-my-imagination freed captive: I went with references for the hair, since the hair is the biggest challenge on her model. Next most difficult is using the color to amplify how NOMAD show the tightness of the auto-tape and the very shiny french maid outfit. I ended up using a purple to show boundaries since the inking was also in black [I am glad I finished this for that reason partially, as white and black are very hard to bring to life, at least at my current level of experience]. I cleverly created the frills by reducing the visuals on the color by half, and then I found a cool brush download and reused the pattern. I tried other methods and custom frills with other ways, but none of them looked good, or were so intricate that you had to really enlarge the picture huge to see it. I didn't do the collar as there just wasn't enough real estate to show the pattern.
The Scene: Starting with the objects, I just did a simply three color highlight and shading on the duster. I followed references very closely on the severed robotic arm, and completely by accident found a way to have oil/lubricant seeping out in a pool. I was torn on two different references for the SWITCH gun, so I compromised and hopefully it doesn't look too dull. The helmet, a design courtesy of korblborp, has outer references but not really internals, so I used an actual flight helmet reference along with what I saw the AMAZON pilots wear previously, and then I guessed at the rest of the internals. I did change the visor into a glass-looking version, though. As for the territory, I really had no idea what to do, so I used a pattern stamp for ground soil, used gradients for the ground and sky, and then used another pattern stamp and, again, had some luck to stumble upon what looking like weapon-induced craters, which will help the plot of this picture to show it's after a battle. And finally, I cut out the head shots from the image and then put them in new layers, and then used a filter and reduced the visuals a bit to try and mimic the technique that NOMAD has done in lieu of backgrounds on a bunch of occasions...I am sure his is better and a much easier way than how I did it, but I hope the effect is similar enough.
My thanks go out to we-r-nomad.deviantart.com for not only his permission but for an outstandingly created universe where we can enjoy both sides of a conflict that involves french maids in bondage, and also to korblborp.deviantart.com for the design of the helmet, and, as far as I know, the Armor which NOMAD later made Canon.

P.S. A literature exposition of this will follow at some point, pending permission [and assumption that whatever I come up with is certainly not Canon unless he deems it so].

Whoa, this is a fascinating idea! I'm very interesting in learning how this is possible. Especially how this babe managed to get captured, considering...

Not that I've ever been any good at drawing feet, but no this version will be the only one...it makes the most sense in the plot of the scenario.
However my next coloring will have bare feet in it...

He should secretly pocket the Chip before he escapes with her. you never know when you might need her to clean your house or provide some entertainment and it would be great to pop it on her forehead as needed ....

You've done some very nice work, and added some delightful touches to your previous line art. I like the detailing on Braidy's armor and the coloring on the severed claw. And I just noticed the detactivated Pilot Chip on the ground between the characters--very nice touch!
The designed helmet is also a wonderful addition. All in all very, very cool.

Thanks Nomad, and I'm glad you like this...it certainly has been a blast to get this pic to this juncture.
Pilot Chip? Β Is that what the control chips are called now? Β It's hard for me to keep up
My final test is to write the story behind this pic. Β I'll work on that and get it to you before the end of the month, probably.
Thanks again! Β

I have a hard time nailing down what to call the chips. Sometimes I like the simple, descriptive, Mind Control Chip. Once or twice I went with the more whimsical, Emote Control Chip. "Pilot Chip" is just the flavor of the month, but I like it.
I suppose that's one more thing I need to create a canonical entry on--the chips.
Looking forward to the story.
