Description
I knew that Mother Brain was a thing but had only fuzzy ideas about what she looked like. Somehow I had also gained the impression that she and Ripley were the same creature at different stages of evolution. This was supposed to be Samus' first encounter with Mother Brain, who each time would survive so long as a single Metroid was left to carry her consciousness and evolve into a new form.

I like the design of the lab here--the creatures in the tubes are supposed to be early prototypes of the eventual "Ripley" form Mother Brain would take. I think I would do Mother Brain differently, but I like Samus' pose, too.
