Apparently, after the events of Kirby Triple Deluxe, King Dedede was left with a fear of a 'certain insect'. Which could either mean bees or spiders. I'm going with bees because Sectonia was the bigger threat. I don't blame him. Bees are scary mofos!Kirby charactersΒ Β© Nintendo/HAL laboratory

Well in my headcanon, Dedede already got over his fear of bugs and arachnids and other creepy-crawlies. To overcome his fear, he literally climbed a tree and smashed a bee-filled hive on his face. He survived with no bee stings.
