Description The only way to drink coffee (for me). I make one of these once in a blue moon - usually for my own use, maybe for a good friend...

I apologize in advance but I'm about to go only like.... whaaaa this is great and adorable and lovely and I'd have one in a sec (just in deep purple or red color )

haha very sweet of you

Yeah, I know what you mean, Jeff makes less than one a year, if that. They take hours so they would have to be priced insanely high, and are a functional item--two things Jeff isn't comfortable with.

That is amazing! I don't suppose you have one for sale? How washable are they?

JeffMargolin In reply to CellEmotion [2008-01-08 06:08:31 +0000 UTC]

Thank you

Jeff doesn't like making functional art, so he made this for him and then was pressured by a few close friends to make them one too...frankly, if he were to price it, it would be ridiculous, it's probably 8 hours of work for this, maybe more.

hahaha wow! no i understand! its ok! I just drink coffee. alot. i do metal sculpting for fun, and thought after seeing his work, oh wow! lol. also drink alot of coffee walking around my company checking progress across the diff floors and projects.

I felt inspired by him, so I will be producing a hard plastic and stainless steel mug of my own inclinations, thank him for me!

I used to live in Oakland and SF... went to school at CCA (then CCAC) I always loved going to friend's lofts in Emeryville.

well, I eventually gave up the loft-life, though kept the furniture, hehe. but Jeff has a loft at the artist co-op. You are welcome to come by

I am coveting this cup! Stunning precision on the carving.
I can appreciate that you only make one once in a while and that it might be for a friend. Sometimes I find that giving my most treasured work to a friend is what makes me the happiest....

JeffMargolin In reply to liquidether [2007-03-31 10:17:36 +0000 UTC]

Thank you : )

So Jeff and I were talking about this, and perhaps this could turn into a topic for a journal entry... Jeff only sells non-functional art, on the occasion that he makes functional art - it is for him or friends.

liquidether In reply to JeffMargolin [2007-03-31 15:38:16 +0000 UTC]

That would be a great journal topic... how an artist keeps some part of their art for themselves and those close to them, keeps a part of it sacred instead of allowing it all to become part of the commercial side of being an artist....
