Description The only way to drink coffee (for me). I make one of these once in a blue moon - usually for my own use, maybe for a good friend...

In my personal utopia, every useful thing would be a piece of art.
I love that it's both highly artistic and yet absolutely functioning.
The carving is so stunning; I especially love the ribbon-like pattern.

Thank you for the wonderful comment on Jeff's piece.

Cool.

One thing I do have though; a genuine Viking drinking horn (made of real horn ) which I occasionally drink cider from.

Yup, although being horn-shaped I can't put it down until I've finished all mah cider. (and it hold a fair amount)

Frost-indri [2008-01-14 18:52:23 +0000 UTC]

Lovely. The clay looks like its still wet! But the top is glazed so I know it's not... still... It looks like you could still (accidentally) carve into it!

Man, the texture on this must take a while, I can see why you don't do cups like this very often!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JeffMargolin In reply to Frost-indri [2008-01-15 04:04:05 +0000 UTC]

um, it was wet. I didn't wait enough for it to dry after washing it in water, very evident in the right-side picture. It takes Jeff probably 6 hours just to carve it, so he makes them for him and sometimes for a friend.

lucky me

Frost-indri In reply to JeffMargolin [2008-01-15 12:09:01 +0000 UTC]

But they clay had been FIRED right? Cause that's what I mean by wet. That it's still in the leather hard green-ware stage.

And yes, lucky you.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JeffMargolin In reply to Frost-indri [2008-01-16 02:36:41 +0000 UTC]

Yes, yes, I know what you meant...of course it's been fired--and even to a normal cone for a change (you know Jeff's work is usually fired very low). I was just playing with the words...so kill me

btw, Tiki is my capuccino and tea vessel
