Description
Ceramic wheel thrown, carved neck. 22"X17" but the cool thing is that it weighs about 5 pounds (all in the neck) the wall thickness elsewhere is about 1.5 millemeters...Related content

Woah... How did you get the glaze like that? (i mean to have it ordered on the top, and stains on the bottom)

It's a really fun piece to hold. The form is so smooth an perfectly round that people often want to hold it, yet the weight vs. size is so dramatic and visually misleading, that they often lift it with too much strength and it nearly comes flying up in the air.
There is another classic form that I am trying to get photographed for the gallery, a tall covered form that was originally designed as an urn...hopefully I'll get it and some other new pieces online soon.

It just shows your skill then, to be able to have such a thin-walled body support the heavier carved neck!

This pot has a beautifully simple design, and the decoration is elegant and complements it very well. I was browsing through the "Pots & Vases" category and this really caught my eye!

Jeff uses a small stone, a very smooth crystal that he runs over the clay in a repetative linear motion. On some of the pieces, you can see subtle lines as a result. You can see this in the 'Black Coin Spinner' piece, especially around the spinner.
On the thrown pieces, this can be tricky because the walls are about 1.2-1.5 millimeters thick and the burnishing requires some pressure to pack the clay and achieve that shiny smooth surface. The low firing (cone 012) is necessary to maintain that finish.
Hope you find this useful

Lovely combination of form and pattern.
(and I can't throw to save my life! So 1.5mm is quite impressive!)

Beautiful. The wheel is my love, and this is one of my favorite forms. Amazing work, but I wouldn't expect anything less from him.

Wow, can't believe it! I do pottery too. Making it thin is one of my goal. At first I thought your products are all casted.... I wish I can go and see you to get some instructions....

I just mentioned this to someone yesterday, I am thinking of posting some images and talking about the process in more detail, you may find this useful.
This will take some time, as Jeff is very averse to having his own pictures taken

Jeff calls it the 'Acorn' design I will correct the listing so that there is consistency. I guess it would be a good idea to put that in the keywords too.
Thanks!

Maybe. I think Pineapple kinda suited it well. It does look as though both would work for a title.
