Phew, still in time, if you're on the West Coast! I give you:
#2. Pinocchio
This movie brings back a lot of nostalgia - my sibs and I watched it all the time when we were little. Only after watching it when I was older did I realize how dark a movie it was, especially considering it was released in 1940. Again, not one of my favorite films, but the artwork and animation are once agaon amazing, and it is an iconic film. It also has some great characters. My faves are in the picture above, followed closely by Honest John and Gideon (comic relief done well). I chose Figaro and Cleo rather than the infamous fox and cat duo since I have drawn John and Gid before.
Part of the reason for this project/challenge is to get me used to trying new things and branching out with the tools I have - mainly Photoshop Elements. In this case, I went the normal route of sketching Cleo and Figaro using this and this screenshot from good ol' Google as a guide, then lined them in GIMP (credits). I used a crayon-like texture brush for the coloring, and added shading using layer style effects. I like the paper mache/quilt effect I got. I tried my best to reproduce the title font for the movie using fonts from dafont.com (credits) and a little painting and customizing. Good enough. The paper texture in the background I made myself.
