Hehe, hello people! So behind the original schedule for this project that it's not even funny, but I have not forgotten about it. I give you:
#5. Bambi
Unfortunately, I did not have the chance to watch this film before setting to work on Week 5's painting. I did, however, know exactly what scene I wanted to paint when I got to Bambi. For some reason, I have never liked Bambi himself, and skunks need more lovin.' So here we have Flower being twitterpated. Thanks to Youtube for providing an adorable segment of the film which provided me the opportunity to get this screenshot.
I decided to go with the black and white coloring to try out different styles, and to add some interest. Skunks are black and white, so it goes together well. Plus, it adds a nice film noire flair. Of course, I left parts of the color in using an effect in Photoshop to add visual interest and draw attention to some of the details in the picture. I painted this in full color first, which you can see here . Which version do you like better? Not a lot of fancy texture layers this time - just painting. I did use some preloaded textures for the background painting, though. I'm actually quite happy with how the background came out, although I found that shading daisies is a pain in the neck.
