Description I decided to do an old sea chart version of our solar system and the nearby stars.

Nearest Stars:
(In Light Years distance from Earth)

-Alpha Centauri (A, B, and Proxima) 4.23 ly
-Bernard's Star 5.94 ly
-Wolf 359 (CN Leonis) 7.79ly
-Lalande 21185 8.3 ly
-Luyten (and UV Ceti) 8.55 ly
-Sirius (A and B) 8.6 ly

I was able to put the stars in approximate direction in a scaled down distance representation. I think it came out pretty good.

Sol is the star name for our sun.

So far science has discovered over 250 planets outside our solar system, but none have been found circling our closest stars yet (but there could be small ones that are hard to detect).

Tools: Parchment paper, pencil, and pastel

Beautiful work, but I have to ask, waddabout the brown dwarfs?

Then there's WISE 0855โˆ’0714, a y dwarf about 7.3 light years away, closer than Sirius.

There are no brown dwarfs close to our star. This is a map of our 10 nearest stars.ย  I have another map I made in my gallery that I made later with more stars on it. Link: jeffrey-scott.deviantart.com/aโ€ฆ

Starboy, Thankyou , and that is a cool way you wrote your name in your signature: "~ยงโ€ รฅยฎรŸรธยฅ~".

This is wicked cool. Seriously, this is really neat. It looks so archaic, like the maps with "Here be monsters" written on the parts that hadn't been travelled, but modern as well. Nice.

Thanks ProvenParadox, I'm happy with it as well. Took some time to figure out where the nearest stars were and put it into sea chart form. I'm glad I did it on parchment instead of on the computer because it made for a more unique experience.

Yes, thanks! It is good to finally see it as well, I knew it was needed to be done because I had never seen anyone even do the solar system and surrounding stars before.
