Description
I noticed there was no detailed map of the TaleSpin World anywhere to be found. The Show came out in 1990, and there are fans of the show of many ages. I have always been a big fan of the show. It is a world where everything revolves around flying airplanes. The time period has been described as 1940. The world has a lot of interesting places, and many funny names. It is like a parody on the real world. A world of Fun Adventures. This map took me over 20 hours to make, over the past month. It was not easy to compile it all together so it makes the most sense.Much of the stories in the tv show take place in Cape Suzette and Louie's island (often spelt as just "Louies"). They are located within the square doted lines. This area has a consistent look throughout the show:
Map from E14 "Stormy Weather": taekwondo-reference.webs.com/o…
Map from E03 "Plunder & Lightning Part 3": taekwondo-reference.webs.com/o…
And there have been shots of a map shown in more then one episode that is more of a world map:
Map from E32 "Last Horizons": taekwondo-reference.webs.com/o…
I also used this great resource, and I would like to thank the TaleSpin Source Page for such detailed notes: www.animationsource.org/tssour…
To make it all make sense, I had to find a logical way to fit it all together. And there was a way, and it was nice to see it all come together.
Notes: The world map, much like the "Narnia" and "Lord of the Rings" maps, is not a continuous map, where you fly out one end and end up coming out the other. In a sense it is kind of mystical that way. And I am fine with that. There is a discrepancy in episode 65 "Flying Dupes" that could not be accounted for when making this map. They point to Thembria as an island near Cape Suzette, but the Country is always cold and Cape Suzette is remarked as being a place where it never snows. So they must be further apart. Also Thembra has so many locations that it must be a rather large Country like Russia and not a small island. So, I decided to make Thembra part of the large Continent and make the other island Geezerland (which is a location with many old people and would make sense to be more south like Florida). I also made the map look like it was from the 1940's time period, to add more realism to it.
Additional Note (10/7/2021): I was bothered for a while that the Aridia pyramid was lopsided, so I fixed it. Now I am much happier with the artwork, and I hope you will be too.
Interesting Fact: Cape Suzette is part of a larger Country, much like the United States in many ways. But the Country is never mentioned in the entire show. So fans came up with the name Usland. Thembria is thought of as THEM-bria, so there must be an US-land. This is where Usland comes from, and I did decide to add that to the map, for the fans.
Hope you enjoy

Nice map.
May I used this world map for my comic story? I'll put credit on your map in comment description, when I start updated comic pages.

So... since the new Ducktales puts Talespin, Goof Troop and Darkwing Duck (probably even Gummy Bears) in the same universe, there would be a lot more new locations to be considered.
I can't verify your map, since I haven't watched the show in a long time, but I admire your dedication - this is something probably a lot (even younger) Disney fans want to do (I certainly did when I was younger).

Ducktales and Darkwing Duck were in the same universe because of Launchpad being in both, but there was never any other cross overs of the different shows when I was younger, so I don't know how that makes any sense. Combining the world of bears/dogs and ducks/dogs well... That map would be pretty impossible to make. This was hard enough, it took a long time to consider things, research, and make decisions on to finalize this map.

Sorry, didn't intend to confuse you!
I'm speaking about the 2017 Ducktales reboot - they mention Cap Suzette and St. Canard repeatedly and had even an episode with Don Karnage.
Gummi Bears are mentioned in one episode as a legend from a long lost time, which is okay, I guess (however, they mention Dunwyn, too, so... there are probably humen in that world, too).
I don't want you to update the map or something It's great enough as it is.

I always thought of TaleSpin as being unique -- closer to a classic fantasy world than similar Disney shows. DuckTales, Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, obviously had an America, an England, and other known places (and took place in contemporary times), while TaleSpin had its range of mythical lands, set in a sort of pulp magazine era.
Some people claimed that Cape Suzette was meant to be Hawaii. I saw it more as British-owned Hong Kong, a totally Western city surrounded by lands resembling jungles, South Seas islands, Asian and Middle Eastern-type societies, etc. I would have put Usland in the more-or-less North America, Thembria in the pseudo-Asia, and -- well -- Bavaria, Bulgaria, Java and Krakatoa are real places . . . but that was just me sticking too hard to real geography.
And if I haven't said it yet -- excellent work!

Usland (U.S. Land) is suppose to be like America and Thembria (THEM-bria) is suppose to be more like Russia. At least that is how the cultures are depicted in the 1990 Cartoon show. So I stuck with that and modeled the land shapes after the maps seen in the show. I also had to move Russia all the way to the west cost of the content, because that is how the distance and relationship is depicted in the show. So I did have to consider a lot to make the map. Thanks for the compliment.

Hmmm, animationsource does not list it. What episode is that in?
Maybe I would put it between vucuna village and the airforce base. But that is just based on the name. It could also go near Pazuza. But I do like the map the way it is.

It is actually part of the Talespin comics. In the comic "Dogs of War" clearly influenced by Nazi Germany but I would have no idea where their titular homeland is located on the map, but it is there.

Oh, so that is why it is not listed, it is because it is not in the actual show. I do like the comics though. But I am keeping this artwork the way it is, it satisfies my desire to make sense of it all. People are very happy with it. At first I thought it was going to be impossible to do, buy I put my mind to it.

I can only imagine how much work must have been put in, to put this all together. It's impressive in more ways than one. More so given again, to try and put things together and also making sure everything presented, makes sense.
Very good work if I may say so.

This is positively amazing! I love that you did this, and also very glad you depicted Thembria as being as large as we all know it really is.
I've been a fan of the show for years. Glad to know there are still enthusiasts out there.

Yes, let me tell you I was worried for a while. I researched the show for 9 hours, sketching 12 different maps and comparing them, before even putting pencil to paper on the final artwork. I mean, what if making a logical map for TaleSpin of this magnitude was not possible? that would have been a wasted effort for sure. But it all worked out. You may post about the map at any website as long as you give me credit. (remember the download button has it even larger at 2000 pixels wide)

Oh, I noticed you did put the artwork up on the site, it is amazing to see. You see, while I was looking to see if anyone had tried to do the Talespin World/Universe Map before doing the artwork, I came across that forum and saw the discussion. It is nice to see my hard work displayed on a page that I feel represents the TaleSpin fans' interest on the subject. Oh, and as for Pazuza I did put thought into where it should go. It was mentioned as being 12 hours away from Cape Suzette which would place it thousands of miles away by plane, and they could still appreciate Usland Stamps in another Country. Or perhaps it is counted as an Usland Territory. Either way, I am still happy with its placement.
