Change your wallpaper...go to your user file: C:\Users\USER\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins\LCARSv2\resources \Wallpapers and there will be some included wallpapers. Choose one that fits your screen resolution.

Just curious if you were able to make use of my random number scheme. I am currently improving it. you could make use of real random number but getting the spacing correct could be tedious. I think I'm gonna try it anyway.

I heavily modified mine and didnt like the random numbers covering the clock so I turned them off. Well mostly. Working on it.

After taking a look at it I had a weird idea what i could do but have yet to try it out. It involves a lot of changes with FontColor's, InlineSetting's and the entire ActionTimer animation list.

This is probably gonna sound like a dumb comment and by the time you reply to this I will most likely have figured it out but anywho- I downloaded this skin today and was playing around with the buttons and pressed the PADD button somewhere and now I have half a screen of the skin (PADD mode or something) and I cannot for the life of me find a button that puts it back into the desktop mode. Help

Right click anywhere on the Skin, go to Variant and choose LCARS-TNG instead of PADD-TNG.

Hi Jefson,
I left a lengthy comment under your USERID about what I've done with LCARS. Here are a couple of screenshots of my setup showing what I've done with the extra button space in the 1280x800 rendition I think one of them also shows the secondary app launcer (Panel-2). I also radically changed the color scheme....the original had way too much yellow for my tatste.
From the comments I read, it seems most users haven't bothered to dive into Rainmeter coding the way I have. I never expected this to be a signed, sealed, and delivered windows app when I downloaded it. I knew it would require extreme tweaking to customize it to individual needs. I think you did one hell of a good job with what you've put out there already....just goes to show, ya can't please everybody.
Best of luck to you, and thank you

Everyone is free to customize the skin and that looks pretty awesome, nice work.
Btw, does the "LCARS SYSTEM 3" mean anything? or is that just your preference/for fun?
And how did you change the random numbers at the top of the window? I'm still working on those and curious how you did that.

pashaak In reply to Jefson [2018-12-28 11:48:48 +0000 UTC]
On the subject of the random numbers, I can tell you that it's NOT an elegant solution but it fools the eye giving the average person the illusion of nice justified columns of random numbers. Basically, I just use the !SetOption bang to reassign the values of the "pseudo" random number strings within the WindowsCalculators. This option could be taken a lot further by actually using real random numbers in place of the numbers in the static strings. Getting the proper spacing may be tedious though. That said, I may pursue that method when I have more time. Do you want me to send you the code? Or I can send you the entire windowsboarders.inc...just let me know.

Jefson In reply to pashaak [2019-01-01 13:58:15 +0000 UTC]
So that's how you did that. I thought of the same before but ended up using this boring full line of random numbers because I wanted it to be really random. Over the past years I've changed so much about this skin that it looks and works completely differently but I still struggle with these numbers, hell even more since it is now a dynamic size instead of this static one.
But yeah, I would be really grateful if you could send me your windowsboarders.inc with a pm. Maybe it gives me an idea, how i could make mine better

Good morning from Pennsylvania (USA),
Thanks so much for your supportive comments. I am Still learning Rainmeter...quickly as I am Retired from the IT business I have a lot of time on my hands. There is a story behind the SYSTEM 3 "Branding". I started about three years go looking for a way to get a decent LCARS GUI for my home PC. Believe me Iv'e been through a lot of stuff that is out there. I call it LCARS SYSTEM 3 because it is the third an hopefully final LCARS scheme Iv'e tried. Never heard of Rainmeter before October 24th of this year. Fortunately during me 30 years in the computer business I have programmed in so many languages I am able to learn new ones quickly. Rainmeter is an interpreted language as opposed to a compiled one. Which makes it fun because you can make changes and see the results almost instantly without the wasted time of compiling executable code. and as you must know changes can be small and tedious. Don't be too impressed hoe=wever, 80 % of the work iv'e done using your skins as a template have been cosmetic in nature. I also am developing this exclusively for the 1280x800 screen size. That skin had the most usable screen real estate, although I did have to add another app launcher panel to accommodate my needs Another benefit of this resolution is my poor eye sight. I just ordered a 34 inch touch screen and I can't wait to see how that works out I am Attaching another screen shot of the media player which I just finishe last night, hope you like it. As far as publishing it on Deviant, I would not feel comfortable with that yet. There is much work to be done and I am an Anal retentive perfectionist. Also, once the coding, removal of dead (Unused) code is finished, I like to go back through everything and add documentation to help others with their own ideas for changes.
Thanks for the response, and also thank you for all your hard work developing LCARS for Rainmeter.

Hi Maxi.

Please help me fix the music player!!! I have tried Winamp and MusicBee and VLC. None of them can capture track information.... VLC nothing. MusicBee responds with play next etc. Winamp will also do that when I enable default multimedia key support. I have tried all the codes from the tool tip and variations of capitals and not. no joy. I absolutely love this and would love for it to be my daily rainmeter skin, I just need to fix or hide the music player! I often find the clock large enough (even when clicked large) so replacing it with a larger clock & stardate would suit me perfectly.
I love all your lcars work, please dont stop!!!!

Jefson In reply to SiliconSyko [2018-12-21 19:25:22 +0000 UTC]
The music player con sometimes be quite tricky in Rainmeter. I haven't tried out all of them but MusicBee should definetly work as I use it myself. You just need to type in "CAD" in the settings and apply the changes as it is still a fully supported program. Same goes for Winamp ("Winamp" in settings). I just wonder what happened to VLC support, as I can't find it anymore.
. . . oh and I'm working on a new clock thou I'm still unsure about the stardate as there is no definitive canon calculator.

Ok So I've had a fiddle with lots of your code... I didnt get very far. Firstly "Winamp" not " 👍: 0 ⏩: 1lugin and not Measure=NowPlaying.... not sure if thats related.... NowPlaying is a built in measure for rainmeter these days. o and I'm using the latest beta of rainmeter. I have reverted to the full release and it didnt help. so upgraded back. no difference.
So Winamp yes. MusicBee No.
I have actually messed with your code a bit to get it setup how I want. I do have some other problems too like the Web links put www. on the beginning.... that breaks the webpages I want to load! I need it to be "https ://192"..... (RPi doesnt allow port 80 to anyone). Also rearranging the "toggle menu" was a pain as its ordered by name but putting numbers before it ruins the look.
I also saw the PADD_hidden button and would love that button to open the clock on 2nd screen Star date is nice idea but I wouldnt get too fixated on it. I've not actaully enabled your padd button in case I broke something lol
Any help or advice with my problems? I'm not really a coder, but I know how to find and change few variables
Jefson In reply to SiliconSyko [2019-01-10 14:12:55 +0000 UTC]
I've found the problem with MusicBee. Go to your MusicBee settings and enable the "cd art display" Plugin. I always forget that . . .
For the "www." in the Web Menu:
- go to \LCARSv2\@ Resources\Windows\WindowsTNG\WindowBorders.inc (maybe make a backup if needed)
- scroll down to line 481, 530, 556 and 582
- remove "h t t p : / / w w w ." in front of each #WebButtonXPath #
- save and close the file
- go to \LCARSv2\@ Resources\Personal\Launcher\WebMenu.inc
- edit the buttons to whatever you want
- save and close the file
- refresh the LCARS Skin
done!
You can enable the PADD button but it wont do anything else than disable the current Skin if you click it. You can change its action:
- go to \LCARSv2\@ Resources\Menus\MainMenuTNG.inc (maybe make a backup if needed)
- scroll down to line 212
- change "LeftMouseUpAction=" to whatever you need
- save and close the file
- refresh the LCARS Skin
done!
But here is a warning about that change: There are sizes that use this button. You will also change these at the same time!
Hope i could help

WindowsBorders.inc!! I so didnt think to look inside that file lol Thats fixed my problem there thanks. Now it will click to open my Home automation LCARS page (RPi)! Yay!
With MusicBee its CAD without the <> and yes i had to enable that plugin and set to load on start up (i have many musicbee plugins which is why i disable "none used" ones)
I dont think I'm going to mess with the Padd button yet. I am tempted to hack apart another lcars rainmeter skin I've got and put it on 2nd screen. When i get that setup correctly, can i use the padd button to enable it? I think so just dont know how yet.
You're help was much appreciated! Please keep up the great work!

I know but the implementation of that is so difficult and requires to write the entire skin instead on one.

What exactly do you mean with the original Desktop just flashes in? This skin will just put the LCARS UI on top of your desktop, so you have to remove icons and background yourself.

omg, my 7 year old daughter revived my startrek passion again after going to movie-park Germany to explore the Startrek ride. They did a nice job of entertaining there With a transporter-room beam up to the bridge in full detail. here i started to get interested again. after a short story build up moved into the ride, all in startrek environment. A long time back i a;ready wanted some strartrek themes and started collecting all movies and series again on my NAS.
Now my daughter is all about startrek and a bit less Borg, too scary.. XD
so last days i started to browse the internet in search for some iphone stuff. sad to find that CBS was not working along so Lcars for Iphone cant be used, unless jailbreak which i rather don't want on the iphones (inform me if there is another way without jail-braking!)
so after a while i started to use this skin, did take me a while before i got the hang of it and used almost whole day to customize it.
I love it and getting more enthusiastic by the minute. my wife hates it because now she cant use the pc anymore (doesnt know what is were anymore!).. hehehe (back to her laptop finally!)
hope to see that you can have more then 10 items to the start menu shortcuts
i noticed some open spaces in the left colum (user data, docs) and did not find anything to add/change there.
is that possible? (noob asking!)
I probably will come up with some more questions, now im about to see how the mediaplayer is setup. i normal never use WMP.
Just wanted to leave a nice comment on a nice job done. Hope to see some extra features in the future!

After I started working progress on this has been quite slow but I'm working on it from time to time.
- The shortcuts will be much more in the future (45 total)
- The open spaces are either meant as a seperator or have a function on certain sizes
If you have more questions, just ask or try to look throuh the other comments (weather seems to be frequent an issue).

brulaap In reply to Jefson [2018-09-05 07:30:52 +0000 UTC]
the weather works fine. one left a good comment to check google for those local codes and it worked fine.
Would it be a good idea to setup your lcars for a dual screen since many work with that maybe even triple screens.
I already can imagine what you could do with that. My daughter (7) already goes nuts with this lcars and it revived my interest as well.
as said, wife hates it because now she doesn't know how to work it
(now she wants a realistic borg cube lamp (big). omg were will it end
is there any way to get something like this running on ios without jailbraking it?
thnx for the reply
ps: any tips related to startrek and pc or ios, please let me know
regards, Leo

Weird but i had something similar with another skin once. Try to delete your entire Rainmeter skins folder and delete the Rainmeter.ini located in %AppData%\Roaming\Rainmeter\. That should do the trick.

Changing "Toggle Menu" and "Auxiliary Systems" would be rather hard but changing "Menu Button" 01 - 10 can be done the way mentioned earlyer. Go to \LCARSv2\resources \Personal\Startmenu shortcuts\ an place some shortcuts you'd use on your desktop into that folder (and delet those you don't need). You could also create shortcuts for links to the internet but I can't remember how.
